It's not a bad game, but not a good one either. It has a lot of innovative ideas and mechanics, but somehow it always ends up falling short when I'm starting to enjoy it. I'd like to see the developers doing what Hello Games did with No Man's Sky since the game has all the ingredients to be a fun game, but sadly the chef forgot to stir the pot while cooking it.

I'm not going to get into the base story/gameplay. What I AM going to comment on is something not found in any documentation about this version as compared to the original version; I have both of them and beaten both of them.
The key here is about tinkering. This is when you use a workbench to modify/upgrade armor and weapons. Since SCE raises the level cap to 99 from 36, it also raises the level cap on gear from 41 to 104. That said, there is one key note in all of this. You can tinker weapons to level 104 (or 5 levels above you current player level, which ever is the lower) with corresponding increases in base damage. Armor, however, cannot be improved after level 50. You CAN tinker a piece of armor to level 104, but, you gain no improvement to the base defense rating past level 50. This is not common knowledge.
