The mouse controls for trackball games are improved over Atari Vault.

For example, in Centipede (in Atari Vault), you had a cursor which your ship follows, making using a trackball mouse redundant due to a layer of obfuscation from it being a trackball emulating a cursor emulating a trackball. In this collection, however, the ship is the cursor, meaning you can use a trackball mouse no problem.

Fantastic collection of games! I do wish they had more titles, official high score leaderboards, head to head matched competions and rankings, and maybe some remixed minigame challenges. Atari forever!!!

So, if you're like me and actually owned pong, or an Atari 2600...then Atari 50 is an excellent buy.

The one annoying thing about the title is them putting a gate between you and the extra "secret" content. I'll forgive that only because all the games I loved playing as a kid are here, and they are unblemished, original. Some product manager in an open office didn't decide to "enhance" the originals. They're here, and if you have a CX40 joystick, they play just like they did way back when.

The history and timelines are also worth going through. I learned a lot that I didn't know back then. You know, before the Internet let everyone know something 30 seconds after it happened. If you didn't see it in a magazine, then you just didn't know.

So, as a Gen X'er who owned a lot of this hardware back in the day...I can say without reservation: it's all here baby. The only thing missing is your mom telling you to quit playing games and come to the dinner table already.
