semi-finished ♥♥♥♥

Decent King's Bounty-lite game, but there's not enough content. You only have 5 roguelite adventures and 2 difficulty modes. The harder difficulty isn't that challenging, so there's a lot to be desired for more hardcore strategists and veterans such as myself. Sure, the game has lots of playable characters, but this doesn't mean much when there's not a lot of content to use them in.

It's a fun game for about 5 hours, but for this major reason, I can't give it a recommendation -- especially at the price point. Things get too stale after you finish all 5 adventures (which I already did), so most of the "content" in the game thereafter is just tedious achievement hunting.

Additionally, the game has a few problems design-wise. For one thing, the UI is kind of clunky. Keyboard support is wonky, you can't scroll the map with your keyboard, and tooltips don't display. Thus, it's needlessly obtuse because you can't see units' abilities and traits during battle. The second major problem is the overreliance upon luck at certain points: magic missiles strike randomly, dodge/block skills only activate 25% of the time, and in-game "dice events" are luck-based. The game's core systems are fun enough, but it could've been better. Couple this with the pronounced lack of content, and you get a game which is pretty hard to recommend.

Get it on sale if it's $3.50 like I did, but otherwise, there are better ways to spend your money.
