We have always wanted to create a hardcore strategy game set during the American Revolution—something never seen before. That’s why we focused on developing an intensely realistic strategic experience with tactical battle elements, filled with historical events that guide you through one of the world’s most pivotal moments. We’ve spent the last 10 years working toward this vision.

In this game, as a general, you can’t be everywhere at once. This creates an environment where you must plan both strategically and tactically, thinking several moves ahead. You’ll face constant challenges—economic, logistical, and military. We’ve painstakingly researched countless historical sources to ensure the events you encounter are as true to life as possible.

We’ve built two campaigns that stand in stark contrast to one another. In the U.S. campaign, you’ll be gradually drawn into the unfolding revolution, with the scope expanding over time. In the British campaign, you’ll be plunged immediately into the heart of the conflict, experiencing it in a full sandbox mode.

Developing this game has been our toughest endeavor yet, as we’ve contended with real-world difficulties. The war in Ukraine and the crisis in the gaming industry tested our team at every turn. But despite these hardships, we’ve persevered and brought this project to completion for you.

Your support and feedback have been invaluable. Thanks to you, we’ve refined mechanics, added extra content, and fixed thousands of bugs. While some issues may still linger, we’ll continue to address them as you report them.

Anything specifically lacking in either campaign ?

I'd like to buy this game, and if the idea it won't get further developed doesn't scare me off, would anyone who has finished the campaign care to comment on whether they are lacking any game breaking parts to prevent enjoyment? Thanks.

Did anyone manage to win?

I'm playing the American campaign but I think I'll give up soon. The British are constantly receiving very strong units. I'm always missing something. When I manage one crisis (money) I immediately have another (lack of specialists). I can't create a large enough army to defeat the opponent. Is it just me who has trouble managing chaos on the battlefield? In normal mode, will the opponent wait in NY for my attack or will he move from there? Where am I making a mistake?...

A Half-Baked Experience - Not Worth the Price

As a fan of the Ultimate General series, I had high hopes for Ultimate General: American Revolution, but unfortunately, it feels like a major letdown. This game feels unfinished in almost every way, and the price tag is frankly ridiculous for what you get.

First, let's talk about the sheer lack of polish. There are glaring bugs and performance issues that make it hard to get fully immersed in the experience. Units don’t respond the way they should, and I encountered several crashes during long battles. The AI is erratic and, at times, seems downright broken, making it frustrating rather than fun to play. It's clear that this game was rushed out the door without sufficient testing or refinement.

Then there’s the price. For what you get, this game is far too expensive. It feels more like an early access title than a fully realized product, yet it’s priced like a finished AAA title. The campaign is shallow, and the battles, while sometimes fun, quickly become repetitive. There’s very little in terms of strategic depth compared to previous entries in the series.

Speaking of which, Ultimate General: American Revolution doesn't hold a candle to the developer's earlier games, like Ultimate General: Civil War. The historical context feels underdeveloped, and the tactical options are nowhere near as rich or rewarding. The lack of features that made their other games shine, such as dynamic events or impactful choices, is a huge disappointment.

In short, Ultimate General: American Revolution feels unfinished, overpriced, and simply not as good as the developer's previous titles. I can't recommend it in its current state. Hopefully, the developers will improve it in future updates, but as it stands, this is a major letdown. Save your money.
