Auto isn't working

I used page up to cycle to early dialogue, went back down and even progressed dialogue but now auto mode doesn't work. Closed the game and reloaded, still nothing. Help me out?

Same here. Definitely a problem for those of us that don't want to mash the space bar or x/a on a controller.

We are investigating this issue but have problems reproducing it. Please email your save files to cavemanongames@gmail.com
You can find your save files in the following directories depending on your platform.

Windows: %APPDATA%\RenPy\CavemanonWani\ macOS (OS X): $HOME/Library/RenPy/CavemanonWani/ Linux: $HOME/.renpy/CavemanonWani/

Interesting. If it is the save files, then restarting and making a new one could fix it

I myself have this issue when I load a game. It works when I'm playing new game, but then when I load it breaks.

Yes, it is related to save files.
Starting a new play-through "solves" the issue. However as I said we have problems reproducing it and therefore can't fix it easily, so if you're experiencing this issue or found a way to consistently trigger it please send your save files to our email.

I found a way to trigger it

Steps:
1. Create a new save
2. Click a couple times until the CG starts
3. click "auto"
4. Save
5. Load
- Auto is still enabled but doesn't work.
Toggling it on and off does not help

I will send you my broken save files

Just saw this, sounds like positive developments all around.

I feel my issue was triggered differently from Snokie Boi's method, I haven't attempted to trigger it consistently but what I did when it triggered was
1. Activate auto
2. Use pageup to cycle through earlier dialogue
3. Use pagedown to cycle to the latest dialogue

By this point, auto is no longer progressing dialogue despite turning auto off and on, reloading saves or closing and reopening the game. I am unsure if it would persist through a new game because I haven't tried it, but like you said I don't think it would persist within the new playthrough.

I sent an email to cavemanon as well, I may have to send a follow up with more info.

Okay now THAT is strange. I turned my computer on and loaded my save, and auto is working again. At least I know whatever it was isn't persisting in the save file?
