Deathsmiles 2 is a bit underwhelming?
I'd say that for a 360 game the 3D graphics aren't that good, it feels more like a PSP game.

I feel that Cave handles 2D sprites (even if it's pre-rendered 3D) much better.

Yes, Deathsmiles II would have been legendary with 2D sprites. But it's still a good game in the end.

This felt like a PSP game.

Maybe they should've made it a console exclusive. (like Ghibli's only 3D movie being only released for TV).

The original Deathsmiles II was made for the arcades, wouldn't surprise me that it ran in cheap boards, since all Cave games are low budget games. The 360 version does look better though, it has better lighting, proper shadows, more visual effects and it is in HD, but I imagine redoing all the assets was not in their budget. Developing the whole game with polygons must have been hard, since they quickly went back to their pre-rendered 3D sprites with their last games.

That being said, I still like how the game looks, I have a soft spot for sharp and bright polygons that looks like it come out from the Dreamcast/Ps2 era.

I wouldn't mind seeing a third entry with Easter or Valentine's (or any other seasonal event) but I'd take pre-rendered 3D all day.
