Westwood and by extension SNEG have weaponized my childhood against me. To this day I still think about Eye of the Beholder. This game is amazing, but it's also jank as hell. There are bugs in this game that stop working the moment you import your party into the next game. There are six classes: Cleric, Fighter, Mage, Paladin, Ranger and Thief. What are thieves for? They have a minor ability to pick locks, but if your lock picks break, you no longer have the ability to pick locks because there's no way to get more.

This is a brutal ruleset, AD&D2E, which means that 1-8 points of healing is considered 'good,' and enemies routinely do a lot more than 1-8 damage. When you reach the bird men (called Kenku) they will routinely cast 'magic missile' at you. They are treated as if they are 8th level mages, and so their magic missiles will strike you for 8-20 damage each, and they move in groups of up to 4, and if there are multiple groups in a row, they can't hit their allies but they can hit you through their allies. So use bends in hallways to limit your exposure to artillery fire.

DOSBox versions of the originals. What more is there to say? These games still hold up today as some of the greatest ever made. From story line, to exploration, to player immersion. These games have it all. If you're willing to put yourself in the mindset to play them that is.
