5) On the left, expand the folder called Windows Logs.
6) Click "Application" under Windows Logs
7) Launch SFM and let it fail.
8) In the Event Viewer you should see an error. Select it and lower window under the General tab you it should say something like “Fault Module Name: shaderapidx9.dll" and exception code "0xc0000005".
9) If you see this error, continue with this guide. If you don’t… this fix probably won’t apply to you.
10) Now, make sure you are on an account with admin powers.
11) In the file browser find C:\Windows\SysWOW64\wbem
12) Find the file called "fastprox.dll". – you need to rename this file, but first you need to have permissions to do so.
13) Right click on fastprox.dll and open properties
14) Go to the security tab at the top of the properties window
15) Click "Advanced"
16) Click change button next to the owner
17) Write your windows username in the text box, then click "Check Names" and it should set the owner to your account.
18) If check name fails, your using an incorrect user name: open command prompt (cmd) from the windows search and type whoami – it will tell you the correct username of your account. Put this in the text box and check name again.
19) Click OK, then Apply
20) Now rename the file fastprox.dll to fastprox.dllold.
If it worked. SFM should boot up just fine.
If the file didn’t rename – don’t give up just yet! You just need to change some more permissions
23) Right click on fastprox.dll > Properties > Security tab > Edit (under the first text box near the middle right)
24) Find "Administrators" in the list and click on it
25) Check the tick box for "Full Control" box under the Allow column, then Apply the changes.
26) Now rename the file fastprox.dll to fastprox.dllold then boot up SFM
If it worked… Nice.
If it didn’t work… I guess its time to learn blender…
thank you, it worked very well.
THANK YOU, IT WORKED, you have no idea how long I've been trying to fix this!!!
Honestly surprised that I helped people even though I'm not that good at SFM .
I did this a while ago when SFM stopped working, and it worked then.
But now SFM's stopped working again, and I don't really know what to do.
THANK YOU
