I have only played the demo for this one but it definitely feels more modern than Uplink. The UI and the look of it are more up to date.
This being said, just from the demo, it doesn't look like there's going to be that much of a story and that's the strong point in Uplink, imo.

Both might end up a little repetitive but the story and the immersive quality in Uplink keep you coming back.

I own and play both ...this one is more thought provoking
