I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but how did you determine they were bots?

Bots act a certain way during the game and after the game. Before the latest update, they did a little funny aftervictory dance where they use up all their specials and dodges when the match was finished. But now, it's a bit harder to tell unless you're a experienced player. Bots frequently use the shield option now. Sometimes they random crouch in the middle of a fight. They pull off crazy movement to reach the stage that normal humans would have difficulty reproducing. And on that one samurai jack map, the one where there's a bridge during the day and disappears during the night. They frequently die by falling on that bridge map under the bridge (I'm not exactly sure why but they freak out with that bridge).

yeah i was going to suggest that as it takes all the guess work out of this

You can't toast bots after a match. But they all play the same, are incredibly easy, and you're forced to play them all the damn time now if you lose even a single match.

That's right you can't toast bots after a match. But i think you're forced to play them because the lack of playership tbh.
