this is a little late but i would say so. the swinging animations are a lot better and look less stiff, the graphics are the slightest bit better, the fighting has miles' venom power which adds another layer to the fighting. i got it on sale but i think it's pretty worth the money if you enjoyed the first one as it adds like 8-10ish hours of main story and then a little bit of side stuff, and an overall more polished experience.

I'm having a hard time getting into it. I cant put my finger on it but so far I simply am not enjoying myself.
They made tweaks/improvements to the web swinging, combat, etc. With the exception of Miles' Venom Power, which YMMV on how much you enjoy them, there's no real "innovation" but it's a solid improvement in most of the ways that matter. Spider-Man 2, IMO, is the one that truly innovated and pushed the formula.. but that's why it's 2, and Miles Morales is not.
It's largely more of the same, with some small, but substantial changes to movement, combat, stealth. Think of it as the original with a handful of extra moves specific to miles' venom and camo abilities.

Controls feel almost identical apart from new moves being available in all gameplay forms

Extremely mIld story spoilers:

the story is nowhere close to being as indepth, long, or enthralling as the original. No big setpieces, massive twists, or big character development. The story is more of an excuse to go between gameplay segments, and less of an actual story.

Still a worthwhile purchase, because the small changes are enough to scratch the itch of a new insomniac spider-man until spiderman 2 comes out on steam this month.

I would argue, like most standalone expansions, it's a downgrade. You have fewer gadgets and abilities, and you do very little damage, the game very much forces you down the Venom attack path, regardless as to whether that's your style or not.

The dialogue is well written but everything about the game is predictable. The main story villain reveal, predictable. Harlem side villain reveal, predictable.

I'd say most of their effort was spent making Peter and Miles behave differently when doing the same behaviours.

The mechanics are the same, the only difference is Miles' swinging style versus Peter's, and Miles has always been a "flow" swinger, whereas Peter is more... rigid.

yes, that is why i said that the animations are a lot better and look less stiff, not that they feel less stiff or any mechanics are different.
