[Spoilers] Duo Characters
Anyone been able to figure out what the deal is with them? I've been playing with one of them and as far as I can tell it really just seems like you are getting 12 weapons and passive slots? Both characters benefit from all the passives, arcanas, can evolve off each other's items, and I don't see any other potential downsides. Is the only "trade off" that your levels get really diluted and spread out early one instead of being able to invest in a handful of things?

What am I missing?

I don't think they benefit from each other's passives. I did Charlotte Jonathan, and Charlotte didn't get the extra lives from the Tiragisu my Jonathan picked up.

Huh, that's odd. They *definitely* shared other passives in the run I just did. It seems kinda janky though, so maybe it is just something with revives? For instance, for my Charllote-Jonathan I picked up Silent Old Sanctuary on Charlotte, who was limited to 2 weapons. Jon for some reason didn't have this limit, but got the same benefit from the arcana that Charlotte was getting, even with 6 weapons!

Gonna hijack this for another question - how do you switch between characters? So the 2nd character can pick up an item instead of the first one? Or is this impossible?

No way to do that.

Concerning the sharing of passive effects: It doesn’t appear to be consistent. Like in my Loretta & Stella run, I gave Wings to Stella and Loretta did not get increased move speed. But in one of my Jonathan & Charlotte runs, I gave Wings to Charlotte and Jonathan’s move speed still increased. Also, one of you mentioned Tirajisu not giving extra revives on the lead character, but I have had them gain revives. So it’s probably just kinda buggy.

Though Sonic Dash seems to trip up pairs, not able to cope with one being super fast.

And they roll on whom who gets something.
You share passives between players only to evolve weapons but not the power of the passive for the other player. This is 100% confirmed.

The duo characters are definitely buggy and do sometimes shares their passives stats, but not consistently.
Did a Loretta & Stella run this morning. Stella picked up the Tome and the Duplicator, and Loretta did get those bonuses as shown on the pause screen and by counting the time to activate Sanctuary. I didn't get Troll Bomb until too late to be able to tell how it was affected. I couldn't tell if the Bracer worked as expected, I had other sources of projectile speed too so couldn't tell if it was the Bracer or the other sources. Tiramisu I picked up on Loretta (it was a ground pickup) so I was unable to tell if that works for the secondary character.
It's just multiplayer with one player. Fake player 2 just uses Tails logic.

Imagine if that was a future collab. Haha.

I mean, have you played on Bat Country? Doesn't get more Sonic than that stage.
I meant Sonic & Tails.
The downside to having 12 slots is needing 2x as many levels to fully level up a weapon, and for many, the passive item. It can be hard to fully develop 2 builds in only 30 minutes, especially as levels require geometrically more exp to reach, and with the RNG being so unhelpful. Plus I believe they share rerolls skips and banishes.
There's RNG in whether a chest actually performs an upgrade for you. You can have 3 weapons waiting for Loretta, and keep getting chests assigned to Stella that do nothing but give coin bags.

Did some more testing, and these are what I found work and don't work if you pick them up on the secondary:
Area, Amount, Cooldown, Luck, Curse, Magnet, Growth

These do not work for the main character if you pick them up on the secondary:
Recovery, Move Speed

These I haven't been able to confirm:
Max Health, Armor, Might, (Projectile) Speed, Duration, Greed, Revival, Invuln Time (Parm Aegis), Charm (Karoma's Mana)

Interesting, nice work. I hope dev is able to make this all a little more intuitive!
