Either ships should try to intelligently determine their target priority based on equipped weapons (probably complex and very subjective), or the game should add a "target priority" setting to ships in the Roster screen so that the player can set whether it should prioritize Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large (assuming that will be cruisers). Maybe also even per-turret priority settings on the Loadout screen (Small / Medium / Large / Extra Large), so that for instance lighter (e.g. S1) turrets on Medium+ ships can be set to prioritize fighters even though there may be larger ships closer (which the S1 turrets are going to be useless against).
