Announcing New Game: Grimshire + 1.0.14 Bug fix

Hello necromancers,

Exciting news! We've been hard at work on our next game, Grimshire, a cozy farmsim with a dark undertone. Tim and I grew up playing the old Harvest Moon games on SNES, Nintendo 64, Playstation 1 and Gamecube and really enjoyed them. It's always been a dream of mine to make a farming game.

Grimshire is a farmsim, with a pixel art style. The features and mechanics are inspired by the best parts of Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley while also expanding the farmsim genre by trying some new things. The world is filled with adorable animal characters, inspired by Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit, Secret of Nihm, Brian Jacques's Redwall book series, and Watership Down. We want to make a beautiful cozy world, but also have some grim and emotional elements in the story.

Also, we just pushed a small bug fix to Bone's Cafe.
This bug was very frustrating to hunt down because it was not recreateable on our machines and it only occurred for some players. The bug caused only some players not to be able to make certain recipes such as mozzarella sticks, and cheese fries. Should be good now, let me know if you run into issues! Thanks darth_mera & glaciesmort for helping us track it down.

Monthly Update: Switch port completed! + some small changes

We finally completed the Switch port and released it last month! While making the switch port we fixed some bugs, optimized the code, and added some small QOL changes.

Version: 1.0.12 patch notes:

Changes

Switch port completed.
Can now hold down left/right furniture/fridge selection cycle buttons.
Made new Hints & Tips displays.
Made a scene transition effect (Fade out and Fade in.)

Bug fixes

Fixed a bug with furniture selection cycle button prompts disappearing sometimes.

Other

Updated Japanese translations.
Changed Corpse detection for optimized physics2D. This changes the way corpses are detected but also makes the game run more smoothly.

Optimized some code in the kitchen menu UI and furniture placement.

Separated UI SFX from Master volume settings.
Fixed an issue where furniture setup mode would be laggy with multiple players.
The names of characters in scene clips are now being translated.
“-99 player disconnected” bug fixed when player controller disconnected.

Monthly Update: Minion skins, cafe renaming, French translations, and more!

Happy new years! We've got a fresh update of Bone's Cafe for you.

Big thanks to the French translations team in helping us translate the game to French!

Version 1.0.8 patch notes:
New Features

Chef and Server Outfits/Skins.
Added French language support.
You can now rename your cafe/file.
Challenge mode now saves and loads a single layout per challenge.

Changes

Added in special characters for the French, German, and Portuguese languages.
Cafe layouts and themes are now located in a single menu called “Cafe Designer”.
Chinese text is now thicker.
Fixed some missing language translations.

December Monthly Update: Bug fixes and Simplified Chinese translations

In this update we've added Simplified Chinese translations, bug fixes, and increased the number of ingredient drops from customers at higher skull rankings.

This past month I also replaced my 10 year old computer, very happy with the new one. This will allow me to work more efficiently (and play some graphically intense games I've been waiting to play!).

New Features

Added Simplified Chinese translations.

Changes

Fixed some recipes showing an extra station or missing a station.
Fixed coin text to prevent it from wrapping when too long.
Shortened some recipe descriptions in German and Portuguese to prevent them from spilling onto the displayed stations.

Balance Changes

Made customers drop more ingredients at skull ranks 3, 4, and 5.

Bugs Squashed

Optimized Recipe card display methods to reduce lag when selecting a large amount of recipes.
Optimized Customer corpse detection.
You can no longer purchase furniture after getting 99 of a furniture type.
Customers will no longer “wander” throughout your cafe when all seats are full.
Chefs will no longer lose their item when you place a furniture item on or near them.
Fixed achievements to only record your highest score and not get reset on a lower score.
Fixed a bug in challenge mode where chefs would not do their programmed task on the edges of the cafe in certain cases.

Full Release Update

The full release of Bone's Cafe is here! We feel like the game is in a good state and offers a lot of fun for players, so we have transitioned from early access to full release.

We couldn't have made it without the help of the community on our discord server, big thanks to everyone who has taken the time to provide feedback, bug test, help with translations and spread the word about the game.

We will continue to make small monthly updates to improve the game.

Version 1.0.2 patch notes:
New Content

Added 9 new recipes.
Added 8 new challenges.
Added a recipe report at the end of the day that shows what dishes you served and failed.

Changes

Made the popular items in the menu persistent (they don't change if leave and come back).
Test Kitchen no longer consumes premium ingredients.
Added a “You beat the game!” message after beating the campaign mode.
Chefs can now grab ingredients underneath other chefs.
Ultrawide and tiny resolutions are now better supported.
Rearranged recipe cards in the test kitchen to make the recipes more understandable.
Fixed some sprite textures that were incorrect or misaligned.
You can now open the cafe from the door, and no longer need access to the “open” sign.
Switched the “Finish” and “Retry” options in challenge mode.
The cooking/steam sprite has been updated to be prettier.

Balance Changes

Bumped up the number of summons in challenges with less than 3 summons.
Fixed the player count penalty not working in the challenge mode.
Changed the Hearty soup challenge to make it easier.
Moved “Bangers and Mash” to skull rank 4. It was previously in skull rank 3 recipes.
Increase challenge mode ingredient caps to 999.

Bugs Squashed

Fixed an issue with layouts saving and loading the wrong cafe size sometimes.
Chefs will no longer leave the cafe if the cafe size has shrunk since they were programmed.
Fixed issue that occurred when scrolling past leaderboard in challenge mode pause menu which will prevent customers from spawning.
Fixed an issue with chefs not doing their job if programmed to do a task at the very edge of the cafe.
Fixed issue where some text wouldn't translate.
Fixed "Death by Chocolate" challenge missing fryer station.
Fixed "Wurstfest Challenge" to have correct number of stations.
Fixed some player/chef customer interaction bugs, such as interacting on a station while standing on a customer.
Fixed Server pathing bugs. Servers will no longer attempt to reach unreachable dishes.

September Monthly Update: Cafe size picker, trending dishes, new recipes

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the cooler weather! We have a couple announcements to make:

1: The full release of the game will be the next update which will be towards the end of October.
2: We're porting the game to the Switch! We're not sure yet how long this will take but we're working hard on figuring it out.

Version: 0.14EA patch notes:
New Features

3 new Cafe themes are available. Seek mastery over death in the “Necromancer” theme. Go into outer space with our “Sci-fi” theme. Or, seek mastery over life with our “Nature” theme.
14 Brand new recipes! Explore a variety of new dishes that range from Japan, Australia, Britain, and the Netherlands.
Tired of being stuck in the same 5 skull cafe? Now you can change your cafe size to any of the previous cafes for even more customization. This will also set the minimum reputation level. Accessible in the pause menu in the Cafe Layouts options after beating the game (getting a 5 skull cafe).
Looks like cafe dishes are trending! Now on the menu you’ll see “trending” dishes that grant bonus reputation due to all of the food influencers.
New Reputation challenge. Try to reach the top of the leaderboard by gaining as much reputation as you can in a day.
Wanting to check the leaderboards while doing a challenge? Now you can! Access the leaderboard from the pause menu when attempting a challenge.
9 brand new Achievements that really test your mastery over your cafe. Can you serve over 1000 dishes? Can you murder over 50 customers in a single day? Try your hand at our new achievements!

Changes

Removed reputation limit. Feel free to gain as much reputation as you can.
Un-derped the Challenge icon.
Changed the layout 5 windows to be an even 3 tiles per window.

Balance Changes

Cafe theme prices have changed.
Automatic ingredient chopping speed by holding down the chopping button has been doubled.

Bugs Squashed

Fixed an issue to where you could change what furniture you’re selecting in the kitchen menu and pause menu.
The furniture selector used to draw above all other UI. Now it is in the appropriate drawing layer.
Fixed a drawing layer issue with the test kitchen minion banner drawing above the Recipe/Station cards which prevents using them.
