No later visit to that level. I also noticed that weapon laying down there but haven't found a way to get to it. I agree with Aria - the setup and the fact that it is a different weapon from your roster suggest that this may be a reference, tho' I have no idea what that reference is.

Blue forcefields are also used to bar access to certain parts of later levels, so I do not think they work any different on the first one. I'm still wondering about that terminal tho' - either I couldn't find the shaft in question or it is an oversight on the dev's part.

The dead body next to the mystery weapon is a unique model too, I believe. Anybody recognize him from somewhere?

And the explosive barrels next to them you can destroy with pistol. I had no clue for the corpse and weapon. Easter egg?

If this is the same spot that I'm thinking of, it's just an Easter Egg of some cut content that didn't make it into the final game. You can't get down there though, you can only see it through the partially opened door/hatch.

I managed to get down below into the trash with the guy laying next to the big gun, unfortunately they're both just static models, so you can't pick up the gun. I did manage to take some screenshots up close if anyone is interested:

There are also unique green glasses near this hatch too, yeah i think this is an easter egg
