2. Box trick in 3-4 is the best ( and only ) good way to farm mana i'm aware of. just reincarnate a character who has a lot of mana. once they're level 1 with a lot of mana, you can build up easily whatever you need, though it will be a low level facility.
Also, Star stored in a char have no effect on facilities as far as i know/noticed.
3. Top equippement are available in free dungeon level 500+.
There's a list of item in https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps2/926289-makai-kingdom-chronicles-of-the-sacred-tome/faqs/36740 but it's based on the Jp version of the game and english name inside are translation made by the faq writer in 2005
There's also https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/926289-makai-kingdom-chronicles-of-the-sacred-tome/42658743/467363959 for a list of just the best equipment list.
4. IMO, Balloons are complete crap, but I'm no expert on the game so maybe someone might come and tell you that they are super meta for some reason i've missed.
1. Have your carrot kill your other characters on the hub to earn mana
2. Destroy the facility in stage 3-4
3. Attack and destroy your own facilities if you have any worth a decent amount of mana.
4. Save-scum a level 1 Free Dungeon until you randomly find a Box weapon, which will give you access to up to a x50 mana multiplier
5. Use a Hammer to lower your carrot's level until you can afford the facility you want
You could also consider watching my videos on Makai Kingdom where I explain how to get into the post-game very quickly. You can find them under the "Videos" section here in the community hub.
For 4:
Certain characters (Prinny Gods & Overlords) are immune to OBing, so they can use Baloons.
However of the Overlords only King Drake is proficient with Balloons and his SP growth is pretty terrible. That pretty much leaves you with Prinny Gods who you've taught balloon from a prior reincarnation (easiest way is to find a map with a fixed Key Item and have them hold that while they level the Balloon skill up to 1). I still doubt Balloons are great (SP is slightly inflated relative to other stats but balloon skills have large power reductions).
Does box even appear other than 8-4(?) before you finish first cycle ?
The character getting knocked out of bounds by their own balloon attack is interesting. Being knocked out of bounds doesn't count as a death towards the population limit (I'm not sure if this is the case if an enemy causes a character to get knocked out of bounds). This lets you get a free attack off and when doing a free dungeon you get that character back on the next floor. The downside to balloons is that balloons aren't very strong. You could abuse the whole getting knocked out of bounds thing I mentioned earlier by having 7 characters setting up a balloon combo for your eighth character to finish but that seems like too much work for little reward. You can also get your balloon runner to pick up a faraway item, then safely leave the map by attacking someone or something. You will keep the score from the item however you won't keep the item at the end of the map since your character got knocked out of bounds.
But all that pales in comparison to making an item runner even faster. Catsaber + balloon (which gives 30 movement) + 2 shoes = great character to pick up items. Mine has 123 movement with that combination. Good luck matching that with a vehicle.
Yes, you can 100% find a Box in absolutely any Free Dungeon, even one made by a level 1 character. I have done so multiple times on both the PC and PS2 versions of the game. You won't see it in the Bonus List but you can find them lying on the ground. It isn't just boxes, either. The lowest tier of absolutely any weapon type can be found on the ground in level 1 Free Dungeons, even weapons that normally don't show up until the later chapters: Frying Pan, Staff, Drum, Cannon, Syringe, etc. Absolutely any type of weapon can be found on the ground in any Free Dungeon.
Ahh... I see. Thanks for the info.
In this video around the 9:40 mark I find a Drum on the first floor of a level 1 Free Dungeon and I explain why it's there. In the same dungeon I also find a Frying Pan and a Syringe.
