Unlike the Steam version, the Nintendo Switch version of ASTLIBRA Gaiden will be a standalone product. Players do not need to own ASTLIBRA Revision or start it up to play Gaiden.

A little over a year ago, when WhisperGames were celebrating the release of ASTLIBRA Revision on Steam and its success, they asked developer KEIZO for a "Director's Cut" of the original Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist in the same way, and KEIZO immediately said, "I'm was waiting for you guys to ask!"

Over the next year, developer KEIZO, DxLib author Mr. Yamada, and artists Shigatake and Haku Tatsufuchi have worked together again to expand the former "mini-gaiden" to the size it is today.
