Horror for the Tiktok generation

+ Cool mix of Visual Novel, Walking sim, set within the SCP universe (I mean ours, obviously) we love
+ Some visuals and set pieces are stunning. Like hired a cinematographer to light and construct a scene levels of stunning.
+ Plays well on SteamDeck, performance wise but...

- Text gets cut off. Seems important when starting a job as an Archivist.
- Couldn't proceed with the 2nd mission due to menu button 'hitboxes' being offset, so you have to click an invisible box somewhere on screen. Probably down to the Steam Decks resolution which could probably be avoided by...
- No Controller support. In fact, strange keyboard and mouse controls too. But worst of all...
- Not scary. At least the first mission (I couldn't proceed after that), because the person in charge of your training narrates everything. EVERYTHING. "Subject D-BLAH BLAH BLAH didn't feel well that night", "We don't know where he went", "it was horrifying to watch" Blah blah blah. It's like sitting next to someone trying to second guess the twists of a movie out loud. Nothing is left to the imagination. It takes all the tension out of the scene, explains everything like those stupid AI videos everywhere. Just shut up and trust the player is smart enough to feel the right emotion. The scariest part of the game was on completing the first day as a subject, when NOTHING happened. It was eerie. Then of course Dr. Smartarse ruins everything telling you how scary and horrifying it all is. Well, thank god the institute has him.
- Probably use of AI gen for character portraits?

I'll try for a refund (though I've had it a while), due to the terrible Steam Deck compatibility. But otherwise, if you like tension and actual horror that follows you around like a nightmare, give Ten Bells a go instead.
