This software works very well for in-person game play- I have two monitors hooked up to my computer. I like to 3d print minis, and terrain- so we use physical minis.
I (as the DM) can see the entire map with hidden items etc. While the player only sees the area not obscured by the fog of war. On my screen I easily erase the fog of war and present the are to the players in any fashion I want. I can "unhide" traps and secret doors that I have placed on the map (with drag and drop props).
It could use a little more polish, but once you get comfortable with it, you can easily run an entire campaign using beautiful digital maps (from Patreon creators-Beneos, Epic Quest, Animated Dungeon maps, and Dynamic Dungeons).
