Great hidden gem! I wouldn't call the game a rogue-light though - I think it's way too forgiving for that. It has a proper story, you have a base with upgrades where you manage your ship and crew, from there you go on missions, some of which advance the plot and some are just random raids for loot. Nothing bad can happen from a raid - no curses or permadeath, if you lose someone - they'll just have to wait a bit on the base to heal, you even get to keep the loot. This approach makes you naturally rotate your team, experimenting with new crew members, which is cool.

Tactically it's awesome. Battles are usually quite short (1-4 turns), but intense thanks to small arenas and unique fencing mechanic, which makes attacker to advance and defender to retreat. This creates a unique flavour, where you have to think about your positioning a few moves in advance and manipulating your enemies into right spots becomes a critical skill. There is a great variety of enemies with different attack angles, armoured enemies for example seem invulnerable at first, but this is where the game begins to demand you to think tactically, utilising collision mechanic, environment and your team of specialists. Because opponents can easily shuffle your guys around with their attacks too, a lot of defensive strategies don't work here, requiring you to come up with something new, which to me is the whole point of a tactical game.

It's true that the game recycles a lot of content - you basically raid ships, attack forts or escape angry people you've wronged, that's it. Diversity of enemies and tactical depth makes up for that imo. After 30 hours of playing I still like the gameplay loop - each battle being a mini-puzzle, each raid being a resource preservation game, where you often have to decide, what to sacrifice in order to advance, and base allowing a general sense of progression. A lot of people seem to dislike ship upgrades, but I actually quite like asymmetrical buffs, I find these more interesting. Demo gives a very good feel of the game and allows you to retain the progress, so definitely recommend you try that (and as always - huge respect to devs who put demos out there)!

Fantastic Roguelike with unique combat that just works and is super satisfying to use when you get good at it

This is an amazing game that I am really enjoying. Only problem is something about it keeps causing my graphics card to flip out and crash my system every once in a while, even though I have the most recent drives and well exceed the minimum requirements. Despite that annoyance, I keep playing, which will tell you how good otherwise the game is.

Save randomly disappears and is not recoverable. Until this is fixed its not playable. That being said, I was having fun with the game.

This is a great mini-Xcom like game in pirate form with a post-main quest continuation that allows for continued playability and future enhancement. Very entertaining.

so I got this game, and I like it. The graphics are decent and challenges are tough. It is pretty much darkest dungeon style adventuring. stable of adventurers or pirates in this case and a path with a few choices leading to the end confrontation. What it has over darkest dungeon is more strategy per fight. With the RNG it adds some variety outside of your control. The story is pretty good and it keeps me engaged. I wish there was more types of missions like they have two. Kill everyone and get from one side of the map to the other...but that's just nitpicky.
