Range Check Error
As soon as I try and start it I get range check error, then it stays saying I'm playing it on steam until I close SE5.exe from task manager.

I've done my usual google and forum searches and found no solid if any fixes for this issue.

Anyone got any advice or things to try?

Done : Verifying Cache
Re-downloading
Different Compatibility modes
Linked the Steam.dll so it works.

Do you have any outstanding windows updates ready to download or to install/reboot? I've found having the update task running even if its just waiting and not doing anything, it conflicts with a few of my games preventing them from starting, this one included.

I've tried all the above, and have verified that all the game folders are present. My game still won't get past the Range Error. I'm using Win 8.1 64bits with Nvidia graphic chipset.

Does anyoone know of other possible fixes?
Thanks!

I was able to get it to work by updating all my video drivers.

This game has been out long enough to have these errors corrected; they have been a part of this game ever since the Vista OS. *Looking at you, Steam.*

Running Windows 7 x64. I was getting range check errors. I had several updates queued up to apply. I tried stopping windows update, but still had the error. Applying some of the updates and rebooting allowed me to launch SE5.
