Hope everyone has been able to stop by Dark Carnival for a quick treat. Here’s a small Hotfix to resolve a softlock that could occur when a Dead Adventure awoke to fight your party.

• Fixed the softlock that could occur when a Dead Adventure was looted and became a fight outcome.

Hot Dogs! Candy Apples! Snickerdoodles! Step right up and grab your favourite carnival fare from the concession stand in the Dark Carnival. Beware the side effects that such treats may bring to you or your party. We wouldn’t want you to get a tummy ache and light your hands on fire!

With these new carnival food additions players can alter their attributes, or take power into their own hands… literally. For example, the Juiced Apple will permanently increase your Strength at the cost of 2 Max HP, and the Icy Wiener will imbue the player with Ice allowing their following attacks to be charged with Freeze, plus so much more!

• Reflections from the Shrouded Mirror have been a well received feature in the Dark Carnival. Almost too well received as lots of parties will hunt them down and ride Reflections to Carnival Glory. This is fantastic, although Reflections should be additive and not necessarily a must have to have deep runs. To ease off a bit of their overreliance we’ve added Fade Damage to Reflections.
  
• Reflections gained from the Shrouded Mirror will now take Fade Damage after rest phase. Fade Damage becomes active after their first rest phase and will continue until the Reflections die off.
  
• Fixed an online game exploit where players could get increased movement.

Unique Dark Carnival Foods - The Dark Carnival concession stand now sells food that can only be found inside the Dark Carnival. Watch your tummy as these aren’t the usual flavours found in a traveling carnival!

• Hot Dogs offer a new mechanic to the For The King franchise by imbuing players with special abilities. Eat a hot dog and your next few attacks will be charged with the flavour of choice. From the Chili Dog, Icy Wiener, Zapwurst, your sure to find something that suits your tastebuds.
  
• Candy Apples are the sweet treat that every carnival goer loves to try. These apples are dipped in all sorts of stat-packed goodness. From the Party Apple buffing speed, Cosmic Apple increasing intelligence, there is an apple for every class to increase their stats. Careful how you chew these apples as they come at a cost of health.

Unique Carnival items - The Bling Pop and Candy Necklace have arrived. Be on the lookout for these special items as only one of them can be found during a run, within Dark Carnival or the Campaign.

• Bling Pop - Raising all of the player stats by 3 points, the Bling Pop will also grant full focus when consuming candy. However, it can be pretty sweet and each candy consumed will cost you 10HP.
  
• Candy Necklace - More carnival bling in the form of a candy necklace.This fancy trinket grants 3HP Regenan extra primary action, party speed, but at the cost of your max focus.
  
• Lolli Wand - With all of this sugar madness the Lolli Wand has been found and restored to the realm of Fahrul. Be on the lookout for its intelligence boosting, sugar-coated goodness.

Other Dark Carnival Changes:

• New cosmetics are also in the Lore Store - be sure to get your fill of carnival food to unlock them and traverse the Dungeon in old-fashioned style.
  
• The previous Candies received an item card update to match the new food item cards.
  
• Fixed the issue where the Shepherd would no longer summon Sheep on deeper floors.
  
• Fixed an issue where the player HUDs could have issues after summoning during the Royal Droll fight.
  
• Fixed an issue where superfluous rooms were being spawned after landing on certain wheel outcomes.
  
• Fixed Wheel of Death party outcomes not applying to Followers, including Reflections.

• Fixed an issue with Focus not being refunded correctly when closing the combat encounter with keyboard shortcut AFTER applying focus with a mouse click.
  
• Fixed a softlock that could occur when a player rolls Randomize Character in the Dark Carnival WHILE there is an Overworld marker present on the map.
  
• Fixed a softlock that could occur in the Chapter 3, The Royal Mines, when clicking on a minecart that occupied the same hex from a player debarked from a landboat.

• Mimics will now attack the player who opened the chest with their first turn.
  
• Improved the timing of tactics procing during attack animations.
  
• Fixed an issue where Followers detailed HUDs would not close correctly during certain combat events.

• Fixed an issue with Player Summary not being able to open during Chest phase.
  
• Fixed an issue with an erroneous string in the Encyclopedia regarding the Disciple Scourge.

• Fixed the Lightning Melody displaying the incorrect icon.
  
• Fixed the Attack Up status effect icon not always displaying the correct icon.
  
• Fixed an issue with Party Rock’s face clipping on his hit animation.
  
• Fixed various armor clipping on player models.

• End Turn has been moved to the Back Button (B on Xbox // O on Playstation) away from “Select”. We’ve also added this flow to more footers throughout the game.
  
• Fixed an issue with the Merc Deed window not navigating correctly with the controller.
  
• Fixed an issue with the Market window not navigating correctly when closed by an off-turn player that is using a controller.
  
• Fixed the issue where custom difficulty would go up by two when using a controller.

This update also celebrates the turnover of the Dark Carnival leaderboard. In the coming days we will highlight new monthly champions for single and multiplayer that will have their winning character immortalized as a Stone Hero for the month of August.

While this update lands on the first of the month, we can’t guarantee that new updates will land this early in the month although we will try our best to align updates with the turnover of the leaderboard.

• We discovered an issue in Dark Carnival that bosses weren’t being cleaned up correctly on defeat. They were attempting to load into subsequent battles resulting in an empty HUD on the combat timeline. When players clicked on that timeline the game would softlock.

Hotfix coming to address an issue that certain players were seeing where encountering a Mimic would cause a softlock when the mimic had first attack.

• Players affected by this mimic issue will be able to continue into their affected game runs.

The Ringmaster continues to stretch parties to their limits, while certain adventurers have been able to plunge deeper than before, it’s been great to see new and returning players jump into the Dark Carnival, or take on the other challenges Fahrul has to offer.

This patch contains updates to both Dark Carnival and the Overworld adventures - from softlocks to Lore Store unlocks, and a pretty nasty bug where people weren’t getting credit for completing the adventure. We also have a fix for a black screen issue that we’ve been able to reproduce. If anyone is still seeing black screens please reach out to us on Discord and we’ll work to resolve it.

To celebrate the launch of Dungeons of Hinterberg tomorrow, we’ve teamed up with Curve Games and Microbird to include some exclusive in-game items within this patch. Now you can travel through the perilous dungeons of Fahrul in pure Hinterberg-style. Check out Luisa’s backpack, outfit, and legendary sword in game when they launch alongside Dungeons of Hinterberg on July 18th!

• Adventure Fail Bug - We fixed the issue where players would complete an adventure and the game would show the Adventure Fail summary and players wouldn’t get credit for completing the chapter.
  
• Custom Settings - Fixed the issue where custom settings were not being applied correctly.
  
• Chapter 3 - The Royal Mines - We’ve increased the tick duration of the powder kegs on the overworld. They will now explode after 8 turns (2 rounds).

• Lore Store stats will now check on game start. This will retroactively unlock any Lore Store items that may not have been unlocked for certain players.
  
• Fixed an issue where Ghoul Skin wasn’t unlocking correctly after defeating the Ringmaster.

• Fixed a black screen that some players were experiencing on load that was being caused by duplicate files.
  
• Improved performance in the Corrupted Plains biome on lower spec machines.

• Fixed the issue where the Wheel would spin one spot backwards if any player was clicking the wheel repeatedly.
  
• Fixed the softlock that could occur if a party member tried to summon four mercenaries consecutively.
  
• Fixed the issue where Wheel Wedges would consume the whole stack if players attempted to replace with one wedge when they have many of a particular type.
  
• Fixed Pipe effects not triggering during an encounter/trap phase.
  
• Fixed the white flash that could occur when leaving the Haunted House to a new room type.
  
• Evil Buskers will now give Entertain gold to the owner.
  
• Fixed an issue where the DIE-NO-MITE ability of Shorty and Gabbo was causing incorrect damage. This ability will now hit a bit harder.
  
• Improved the Dungeon Timeline readability when the Disciple is active.

• Players can now choose to Ambush a mimic after identifying it with an Identify Scroll. This will give them initiative in combat, choosing to pass is still an option.
  
• Fixed an issue where casting summon could incorrectly summon Mercs.
  
• Fixed the issue where refund focus wasn’t being correctly applied during combat encounters.
  
• Fixed the issue where the Hanged Soul remained active after defeating the Hangman via the Overworld.
  
• Fixed the softlock that could occur if the Devious Enchanter tried to reward a non-reward item.
  
• Fixed an issue where the Foul Priestess lacked popcorn text on one of her Drain Focus abilities.

• Fixed an animation issue where fallback animations wouldn’t play in the event they were needed.
  
• Polished the Chaos bottle weapon trail in the juggle attack.
  
• Fixed clipping with the Vest armor on Heroic body types.

• Fixed Godsbeard not triggering with an equipped pipe when used during Party Heal at a rest phase.
  
• Fixed the HUDs disappearing early before a player/enemy kill is confirmed visually.

• Fixed an issue where controller players couldn’t complete the Wheel of Death if the Settings Menu was accessed during the reward screen.
  
• Fixed an issue with the controller not being able to navigate Player Summary when opened for a single player.
  
• Fixed the title not immediately highlighting an encounter’s options when the turn is passed to the next player when using a controller.

This update focuses on bug fixes including a handful of bothersome bugs regarding Mercenaries, Clown Gear, item cards staying on the screen, and other commonly raised issues.

• Fixed the issue where the item card was remaining on the screen as players moved through different rooms.
  
• Fixed the softlock when equipping the Clown Garb attire.
  
• Fixed the softlock that could happen if a Juggling Clown was confused.
  
• Fixed a softlock when using the Wishing Well in online games.
  
• Fixed a softlock that could occur when using Identify Scrolls.

• Fixed the issue where certain players were seeing “none” in Chat.
  
• Fixed a softlock that could occur when switching characters in inventory during an encounter phase.

• Fixed the issue where Mercenaries were being summoned in rest phase but not appearing in combat.
  
• Fixed the softlock that was happening from buying out all Merc Deeds in the Merc Market.

• Fixed the clipping on the Heroic body type with the Primordial Armor set.
  
• Fixed the Spider Queen not playing her death animation.
  
• Fixed the issue where jugglers would have their pin remain juggling after death.
  
• Fixed a few weapons that were falling through the floor in the Tunnel of Love on death.

• Fixed an issue where the UI changes the selection to the default option for the Player utilizing a controller when another Player performs an action.

• We’ve removed the Cracked Flute from the item pool.
  
• Additional fix for Arachnophobia settings.

A new update to address a couple of key issues that players are running into in Dark Carnival as well as overworld Adventures. First being a combat softlock during a town siege or camp mimic fight, and the second being a progression blocker on Floor 26 of the Dark Carnival. We’ve also fixed the issue where killing the Hangman was not removing the Hanged Soul.

• Fixed the softlock that was happening on Town Siege fights during the rain. This softlock could also occur when clearing an enemy camp and the treasure chest was a mimic. Players can load, or continue, directly into existing save games and continue their game.

• Fixed the softlock that was happening when a summoned Junior was attacking the party. Players can load, or continue, directly into existing save games and continue their game.

• Killing the Hangman will now successfully remove the Hanged Souls.
  
• Fixed a softlock that could happen on overworld dungeons when traveling to a new floor with a merc in the party.
  
• Fixed a softlock on Adventure 5 when choosing a locked plan.

Congratulations to all travellers who have made the weekend journey into the Dark Carnival. It’s been a delight to see all of the leaderboard scores, get a ton of feedback, watch streams, and take in all of the revelry.

This patch fixes the issues with the Dark Carnival Adventure Challenges not being awarded correctly, a wheel balance change that we’ve seen off of a lot of community feedback - the Wheel of Death now has a chance to replace a used wedge with a positive wedge—plus a handful of bug fixes.

• Fixed the animation for the Merling Magician not playing correctly when they cast Heavy Water Bolt.

• Fixed an online softlock when rapidly pressing join on a controller during join-in-progress.
  
• Fixed a UI blocker when pressing back on controller during Party Management.
  
• Fixed an online softlock when rapidly pressing the confirmation button while using a controller.
