There are a lot of problems with this game. Level designs are repetitive, enemies are repetitive, hell even gameplay in general is very repetitive. The storyline leaves much to be desired and the overall game lacks polish and quality control. Transitions from one level to the next are jarring and immersion-breaking. Cutscenes look nice but are poorly written and executed. Voice acting is ♥♥♥♥, writing is ♥♥♥♥, and the whole game sucks ass in a way I've never seen before.

Yet somehow it's still a fun game, despite all of its flaws. The characters are fun to control (even if the controls can be finicky) and if you like simple shooter games where you can just point and click and shut your brain off, this is the game for you. I just wish it was a better game in general.

For all effects and purposes, this is a bad game. Yet, I had fun from beginning to end.

Graphics are subpar. Character models range from passable to terrible. Animations are so stiff they're laughable. Level design is just corridors and rooms. Stages are all similar. The few gimmicks like an elevator are terrible. Buildings make absolutely no logical sense. Audio design forgot to add audio. Sound FX sometimes don't correspond to what's happening. Music is actually good, when you can hear it among the chaos. Combat is completely unbalanced. Several times you get hit without knowing why. Bosses are a joke except one. Your super moves completely freeze everything in place, except some things, and also, other things sometimes decide to move anyway. Story is as bland and dumb as possible. Characters and villains have zero motivation and reason. The occasional CGi is actually very competent and beautiful. Yet...

The gameplay rhythm of making you don't want to stop or else you lose your score multiplier makes for a frenetic, second-by-second decision making that's irresistible. Your arsenal is actually varied and everything has a chance to shine depending on the situation (well, except the extremely slow charging shot). I played the game from beginning to end in almost a single session.

This game attends a very specific taste, but if it's yours, you'll like it.
