Laxasia is all-powerful. Not cheap aaaat all…
So Lies of P is my first soulslike. I am a glorified noob but until Laxasia I have been loving the grind. The game is beautiful, the story is engaging and the mechanics of the game - mostly - encourage you to work hard to learn patterns, get creative in your gameplay, etc.
And then come bosses like Laxasia the Complete… Until then, no matter how much i died - and I died a lot, make no mistakes - I always found the grind to beat a boss rewarding. Laxasia has Completely depleted my patience. I am at the point where I am considering playing something else for a time before MAYBE coming back to Lies of P.
For all that I like this game, they are ramping up the amount of cheap tricks with each boss.
Here are some examples:

-When stuck in a corner, your weapon (even the short ones) is blocked by the wall. The first times it happened, I thought it a fun way to put some realism into the gameplay. But when Laxasia puts you in a corner, her long-ass weapon IGNORES the wall! WTH!
-Am I the only one to marvel at Laxasia’s SUPER graceful way to contort herself mid-combo to follow you to the ends of the earth and more?
-I find the long-ass combos and animations aggravating to no end. Seems like that boss has been designed to chip at your nerves in every way possible.
-Each time I try to beat 1st phase Laxasia, it will not take less than 5mn (if I don’t die), then, I die during that phase 2 in less than 10 seconds. Not lon enough to learn her moveset in any case. And then, I have to try to go through phase 1 as quickly as I can…

All this to say, as much as I like how challenging this game can be, my patience is coming to an end.
Of course, the problem also lies with me: I decided to challenge myself by sticking with the Puppet’s Saber ans not using summons.
As for the acid grindstone - which is apparently effective against Laxypoo - I find the fact that it’s so rare an other added cheap difficulty.
Well, that is my experience of the game so far. Maybe I’ll get myself out of this predicament, maybe not. We’ll see how it goes.
Does that resonate with anyone ? What was your experience with Laxasia like?

depending on your resources the Aegis arm + a stabbing weapon with Acid can help smash first phase pretty quickly and little effort. if you have low legion because of a lack of Capacity...well that might be an indication of why shes so hard too. you need Capacity for the best defense items. even Phase 2 can use the Aegis Arm block and be stabbed to death if you have LOTS of Legion though.

the perfect block grindstone can be really helpful doing the Aegis strategy especially if you have 2 uses and can trigger it immediately as phase 2 starts to reflect all her shots and perfect block her face dive

remember she also will do a vicious attack before she staggers in both phases! the second phase stagger attack is REALLY strong and honestly...its a dumb mechanic that should have stayed unique to Victor. but whatever. wait for her tantrum to end before going in for the fatal attacks.

Carcass Bottles and Shotputs are also worth investing in besides the Acid Abrasive (Abrasives are the consumables Grindstone is your forever friend with changeable special buffs) BUT yea its expensive in NG. and it can be really frustrating to use consumables items, fail, and then see you "wasted" valuable resources. often in NG cycles i would only use Shotputs to nail the stagger and a few carcass bottles to help finish off a phase if i was winning.

I think by then, if you found the packages, you can buy the grindstones at the hotel.

I wouldn't be ashamed of using a summon for this fight. I did.

You can also parry the lightening shots back at her. Once I realized that, I had much more success in fighting her.
You’re right about the grindstones at the hotel. I have actually bought them all. Thing is, they only sell a limited number of them. As long as I don’t know Laxasia’s moveset - beyond the lightning you can indeed reflect back at her - I don’t want to waste them.
As for the summons, there is absolutely no shame in using them. I just learn my adversary’s moveset easier if they attack me instead of the summon.
For the moment, I am able to reflect the lightning in the beginning, but then, I die very quickly. And that’s if I don’t die from her unblockable charge…

I bet this guy haven't fought Malenia...

The first time I played Lies of P I used everything the game gave me to win. I used summons, grenades, grindstones, throwable items, all of. I killed Laxasia in 2 or 3 tries the first time around.
The second time around on my NG+ I used none of it, except the legion arm and specifically learned how to parry her completely. If I have to sum up the total time I spent on her the second time around, it would probably be around 6 hours. Becuase I was basically getting hit on purpose and tried to do a perfect play. I didn't do a perfect play, but I can now decently fight her.

What I can recommend to you, which is not always obvious. One - you can and probably should parry the lightning bolts. It's overall a better option imo. You can block not only the lightning at the start, but you can also perfect parry her descent where she fires you with a massive aoe hit. And overall the second phase of the fight is one where you probably want to to perfect parries as much as you can. Or you will die. It's very hard to dodge her. Just calm down, start parrying and look at what she is doing. There are patterns, I promise you.
Second: use acid. She is super weak to it. Both abrasives and the legion arm. Or weapon with acid damage.
Third: In case you do, don't forget to use your fable arts. They could be very helpful.

There is an infinite amount of grindstones and all other consumables in the game. Some of them are in the hotel clerk merchant and some are at the Malum district merchant in the bar. I guess you haven't found him if you think things are limited.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You're right, I haven't ^^. Like I said in my first post, Lies of P IS my first soulslike. I heard about Malenia, and from the way you talk about her, I'm guessing she's even worse than Lexypoo... So I'm not real anxious to meet her.

As for the Malum district merchant, you are right, he sells infinite acid grindstones. I knew where he was but I never used grindstones before. I tried with Lexypoo and it is effective ! Especially with that shield of hers. Now if they make a grindstone that punishes the abuse of bad camera angles and wall-phasing weapons, i'll be golden.
All in all, a lot of very helpful tips ! thank you all ! Hope Lexypoo is vanquished soon !

I would recommend checking your build probably for this one.

Laxasia is one of those "your build is wrong" kinda bosse in my opinion, on my first playthrough I used only slow large weapons, died to her maybe 6 times, decided to swap to faster weapon and melted her first try.
She really hates slow weapons and you spend lot of time just standing around.

I think it was starting greatsword with curved handle, and I could just stand behind her and spam heavy attacks.
I hadn’t thought of something like that… I’m sure my build isn’t very efficient. I am very much a noob still. But that’s good advice! Thanks!

if you have a problem blocking, you can try the "special grindstone" that Venigni gives you. There is one that makes it so blocking = perfect block.
So many grindstones… It could be useful to block the electric onslaught at the beginning of phase 2. I don’t always perfect block them all…

You can also look into the cube. There are some useful things that it can do.
I’ve seen that most of the cubes tend to Specter things. The healing one is soooooo slow… But I’ll check again to see if I haven’t missed anything worthwhile.
Huh i am confused what is the big deal about Malenia? I dont understand. Rather easy boss with one annoying mechanic? Got her 7th try on my first run and 2nd try on my 2nd / DLC runthrough. Much easier boss than a lot of the bosses in this game to me.
If you suck at BLOCK TIMING this game is hard. And i suck at it big time.... Always have always will... I try to dodge as much as i can and only block the red stuff you have to as my timing is just off 8/10. I always press too early or too late i just dont have the feeling for it.
I havent reached this boss yet but i am sure it will be sucky.
Or just maybe you will deal with it better than I have! You can’t know in advance ^^! As for Malenia, I really ought to watch some videos to see what kind of monster she is…
This one was not so bad to me. A lot easier than the green monster for me... somehow... Like the Romeo one somehow the superfast moving ones i got pretty quickly LOL.

Most frustrating part by far in this one is having to do phase 1 over and over. Arguably the easiest boss fight / phase in the game. If you pay attention you will not get hit. But you want to do it QUICKLY of course which leads to annoyance and getting hit LOL. It has such long paterns more skilled players would prob block and quickly break stamina. I run away wait for the end and pounce... Never broke stamina once in phase 1.

When i finally did in phase 2 it was the win. Though she didnt immediately 'break' i had to run away first. That got her nearly done and a LB + Y got her done after that. I am the worst blocker ever. I used the perfect block grindstone for the first set which helped. I never once figured out how to not get hit by her surging at you at the end but ok if you have enough health it does not kill and the 6-7 perfect blocks cast back do plenty of damage (and stagger damage?). So it was kinda fine for me... Got it faster than 3 other bosses in this game for sure.
