There is no mod that gives you back how the game played before.
The only way to do that, is to downgrade the game to an older version, it's pretty easy to lock the game version to an older version via modifying the appmanifest in steamapps folder and make it read only, and never get any updates, also most up to date mods would be broken, and you would be only playing solo alone.
Anyway the mod on nexus is called "Alternative Pal Summon".

Will there eventually be a mod that causes the old Pal summon to return? Obviously it won't be available on public channels given Nintendo and DMCAs, but if it was in circulation long enough I can imagine making it become too widespread to take down will be a thing.
