In setting up my routing systems, I realized things would be greatly improved with two simple devices: a packager and an unpackager (rename as you see fit, obviously). Imagine a device that is fed resources and once a set amount is gathered (50, 100, whatever) it crates them up and ships them out. Then, you transport the crate of X across whatever distance to an unpackager that de-crates the goods back into individual items. The packager could have 3 ins and 1 out, while the unpackager could have 1 in and 3 outs (swap out 3 for other numbers as appropriate, but it should be higher than the single path). This would require building more devices, but it would definitely improve the volume of pathing required for large or complex systems.
