Faction Idea: House Rabban of Lankiveil
House Rabban of Lankiveil

Fed up with his uncle’s insults and meddling, Count Glossu Rabban has launched an attempt to seize Arrakis in his own name, with the resources of his own homeworld. An icy, maritime planet, Lankiveil is renowned for two things- its hardened seamen who endure the bloody business of bringing the prized Whale Fur to the CHOAM market, and the towering spires of the Orthodox Buddhislamic Temple, one of the galaxy’s largest (and most profitable) organized religions.
Leader – Count Glossu Rabban
House Crest – a black stylized six-finned Fur Whale

(If you wonder where the religious angle comes from, it’s mentioned in the appendix “The Religion of Dune”.)

Faction Advantages/Disadvantages
(Not exactly sure about general advantages, some of the councilor powers could be shifted to here)
Disadvantage- Units have 50% supplies for any given water total.
Coming from a world covered in water, Lankiveili troops are especially ill-accustomed to the arid environment of Arrakis.

Councilors
(Not going to bother trying to name them, these would need to be all original characters like Ecaz’s.)

Missionary Mentat – bonus to Sietch relations. Rigorously trained in both Mentat logic and theological argumentation, his skill in religious apologetics can sow doubts in the faith of even Fremen sages.

Seasoned Bosun – bonus to spice yield per harvester crew, but crews require a water contribution. With decades of experience making his men give their all butchering the corpses of fur whales, squeezing every bit of spice from Arrakis is a relatively cut and dry affair.

Ecclesiastical Censure – can select a Landsraad resolution so that additional votes cost 150% more influence. A cunning Lankiveili cleric with a seat on the Imperial Committee of Ecclesiastic Translators, he can raise religious concerns about even seemingly secular politics.

Units:

(Basic Melee)

(Basic Ranged)

Harpooner – ranged unit with a very low attack speed, but a unit hit by them suffer a major speed debuff for several seconds.

Merciful Renunciate – elite swordsman with a bonus in enemy territory but a debuff in Rabban territory. Soldiers captured in wars throughout the galaxy are bought and mercifully freed by the Lankiveili Temple, with the expectation that they convert and continue their trade for the Temple’s pious benefit. Some say that Rabban’s hatred for Gurney Halleck began when he refused such a bargain.

Antique Artillery (Mechanical unit, working off the bit in the book where Rabban wants to keep the Harkonnen artillery for use against the Fremen.)

(Fighter Ship)

Frigate: SS Abulurd – can switch between attracting or repelling sandworms. A repurposed suspensor whaling ship named after the Count’s ill-fated father. It turns out that the sonar system used to bait Fur Whales in Lankiveil’s seas can also be used to lure or repel Shai-Hulud.

Heroes:

(Merciful Renunciate Hero) A former comrade of Gurney Halleck, now a zealous crusader for the Count who spared him from the slave-pits.

Na-Count Feyd-Rautha Rabban – White Poison Blade Feyd in a timeline where he wasn’t adopted by Vladimir and remained in his birth House.
(I know Feyd is already in the game as a Harkonnen councilor, but he really deserves to be a hero unit; the slight paradox is worth it imo.)

Tl;dr: nautical/whaling industry x crusading church; main disadvantages relate to water.
