Help understanding boss fights.
I have made it to the level 30's as far as bosses go and am fighting the armorer dude. I really don't understand how you're supposed to approach combat. The character moves so insanely slow that you can usually just barely dodge out of the way of a move and the dash has a cooldown that's obnoxious enough to not be able to use it reliably since the bosses seem to attack quickly. It also doesn't seem to be like souls like where you dodge and wait to get a few strikes and repeat since i've had the bosses constantly swap between attacks within mere seconds of each other.

The slow MS is already a huge pain for me (wolf/horse does alleviate it a bit but it's still super annoying) it feels like unless you absolutely outlevel them and can easily dunk on them there's not much you can really do to bosses (I should mention I'm playing on hard and it's my first run/solo)

I get I'm supposed to use armor to get rid of the billions of traps he sets down but after that (and when he summons backup cause that needs to be a thing apparently) i'm at a loss there's no real cover and, again, i'm so freaking slow that dodging doesn't seem to be viable nor does dashing. I did unequip the parry move for other stuff but that didn't make much of a difference on other enemies due to its cd as well

WASD is your main method of avoiding damage. Stop swinging your weapon and your movement speed will be good enough to avoid 90% of attacks in the game.

Your veil (dodge) also makes you invisible for a moment, but that invisibility breaks when you attack. Use it to potentially draw multiple attacks from enemies while your cooldowns come back or to reposition. The chaos dodge in particular can be used twice in short succession.

Defensive spells like counters and barriers are great since they both negate the attacks and often retaliate in some way.

Some weapon abilities have good movement or i-frames in them. The mace and axe Q attacks are good for closing the distance, or to move out of the way of incoming damage. The sword Q attack ignores unit collision, allowing you to slip behind enemies as they attack while you continue dealing damage.

And there's sometimes the option to feed on enemies in the middle of combat. The movement towards and the bite execute afterwards both have i-frames, so smart use of that can be an extra dodge or two.

Then there's the final option: unholy ranger. Use ranged weapons so it's easier to stay away from foes while you keep attacking, and use unholy spells to summon minions to distract and tank damage for you.

For that boss

Summon skeletons with corrupted skull to keep him busy, and pelt him with spells and arrows from just outside the arena. You avoid the traps that way, and may not even get hit at all.

I haven't gotten any points for that spell section. I only have red and blue

Should have a purple point as well from the Stonebreaker at that point.

Anyways do Goreswine first, he's easier (at least to me), then you can craft a better ring, make grave dust for a castle waygate and get a green spellpoint for corrupted skull. Which is an extremely useful spell for a solo player because when enemies are beating on a summoned skeleton they aren't beating on you.

That may be your issue. The boss mechanics seem to be designed for at least two players, with one dodging attacks while the other(s) attack it. Takes a bit more finesse soloing bosses designed in that way.

In the end I submit your experience is going to be not the most pleasant if you try to learn the game for the first time on a higher difficulty.

there are attacks that can be avoided just by moving
there are attacks that must be blocked
there are attacks that must be counterattacked
For each attack of any Boss, that pattern is followed

I use a pure melee build, without ranged attacks.
blocking skills at least one, dodging skill, in addition to some weapon that allows dodging, such as the two-handed sword with its jumping attack, give ample possibilities to dodge any attack if one recognizes the pattern

Yea, I wanted to 100% the game and figured I would do it in one run

The only boss that really gave me pause (stopped me in my tracks) while on normal settings is Adam. Almost every guide is how to beat him with two people or adjusting the sliders for health, dmg, etc.
You can use either Phantom Aegis (illusion spell) or the Armor standing in the area that makes you invincible but were you can't attack to clear off some of the spikes on the ground without punishment by walking over it.

Damn, I'm used to seeing videos showing 10 GS under the boss, but fighting unarmed at 0 GS? My hat is off to you.
