Grid Under Objects - Toggle Over?
Is there a way the grid can go over objects? Right now, the grid lines are being obscured by things like trees, boulders, and other objects, which creates a little bit of an issue regarding where the grind lines are in a placeable-heavy map.

Unless I'm missing something, I can't modify this, and like to propose a toggle for allowing the grid to be layered over objects. Thanks! Wonderful tools, here.

If you are using a VTT to facilitate your gameplay export without the grid, use their stock grid tools. Otherwise the grid is in a fixed position within DA.

I run my games in Tabletop Simulator (mostly because I enjoy all the immersive elements I can do there with boards, figurines and other cues combined with the fact that I home brew a ton of rules rather than relying on a VTT's stock rules).

Thus I have to rely on the .jpeg print of the maps. I don't mind that the grid is in a fixed position, but I'd like the option for the grid to be on a higher layer thn all the objects during export. Or alternatively, during export, if there could be a toggle to draw a grid matching the grid over as an overlay layer.

Can I get a response on this? Thanks!

I'm not sure what else you're expecting...

As I stated prior, if you export without the grid in DA and use your stock TTS VTT grid tools, their grid will always be on top and match perfectly if set to 5 ft. We don't typically recommend exporting with the grid present if you want to use VTT software, as they have far more grid tools and options. The grid in DA is meant to assist with building sizes and printing maps. If you want an immediate solution, the stock VTT grid tools are the way to go.

This Grid Article in the TTS Knowledge base [kb.tabletopsimulator.com] should help assist you.

I hope this helps to clarify things.

Tabletop Simulator's grid tools are not effective, because the grid size is not on the same alignment as it is in Dungeon Alchemist, meaning I have to constantly move the board around just to get the specifications I need, which is tedious and frustrating.

It would be incredibly effective and easy if Dungeon Alchemist could just give us an overlay grid option that supercedes all objects and thus makes it easy for those of us who want to just use the grid provided from the application.

I don't understand why we can't get this as an option. If I was using these for IRL (something I will be doing, as well), we'd run into the same problem, and then I'd be forced to take a ruler and marker out and manually draw in the lines. I just want the application to have the grid above everything. This doesn't seem like a tall order.

As of now, I essentially need to go in Photoshop and waste time drawing lines over the existing lines from the export to achieve what I want. I just want convenience, is all.

Oh! I was going to buy this program to make maps for my IRL PnP game, to print them out. Does it mean I'd have to do more work with the maps after printing them to get this grid done? It needs to be visible so my players know what distance their characters moving. Can it be fixed so the grid is always there?-

You can export maps as a jpg for print with or without a grid present, but at this time, a select few items are placed above the grid. I suggest giving our demo a try to check out the grid options in the settings menu.

It is definitely not a select few. Nearly every placeable object, as well as some walls with 3d Perspective enabled end up obscuring the grid.
