I hadnt really been using the kick out mechanic throughout the game, so i made the blunder of not kicking out certain spirits *cough*mokou*cough* and the challenge became impossible because i couldnt get reward spellcards from everyone being locked into average ratings. so my first attempt was a loss. and looking at the achievements, more people have the achievement for winning than losing so i guess i'm one of the few people to fail my first attempt. feelsbad.

I don't know how the decide which punishment cards to hit you with for this fight, but they chose mokou's almost every time. it got chained on my multiple times, i didn't really think about just kicking her out until it was too late to recover the run.
