All I did was purchase, download and install the game like any other steam title. But I get an error message when I try to start it saying the .exe file supposed to launch the game is missing, and I can't find it in the game files

A somewhat common issue is for items to become stuck in place, either on the terrain or inside each other. Normally it's not a huge issue, but it's possible for a larger item like a Clock to become wedged inside a shop, preventing a max length truck* from entering and activating the Map icon. You can restart your game to loosen the item, or (if that doesn't work) do some painful truck-lifting with your bear arm, but it's still a real hassle.
