Conceptually I like this game. It has good depth, I like the squad customization mechanics, lots of options for load-outs.

However, I can't recommend it primarily because it just takes to long to get through a mission. I'm a working professional with a family. I don't have time to spend 2+hours on a single mission that has three phases and throws like 30+ enemies at you at a time. Especially when it's not clear what rewards you will get, the UI is cumbersome to use and most of the enemies are not chaff, they have huge HP pools and armor, which means you can't cut through waves of enemies quickly, even with things like Grenade launchers which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I find that the battle quickly become grind-fests for these reasons.

A labour of love. While inspired by xcom, this actually feels like you're playing an elite military force from the beginning. I highly recommend!

Game continualy crashes and freezes, not recommended

i expect this type of game to be playable on an older pc but its not.

Not for the faint of heart. Tutorial is must. Reading the Encyclopedia is a must. There is no skipping it. Once you get past that, it is a deep and rewarding game. It took me an evening to wrap my head around it. Mission are tough and require you to think about what you are bring. Don't bring enough ammo you are done. Go with not enough people you are done. Not enough meds, grenades, done and DONE! Get the picture. No hand holding here. Reminds me of the old school 90s games. Squad setup screen is your friend. Runs very well on my my rig. its pretty beefy though. I think the problem some are having with performance is that window showing the troops vision. There should be a setting to disable it I think lower rigs are struggling. I remember another game having that but it could be disabled. Sound effects of the weapons are excellent. Mission are long and have a lot of enemies. Xcom crossed with Xenonauts with a little 40K
