The Fruit keeps freezing my PC, need advice
I want to enjoy this game. I want to enjoy it so badly, but the lack of a save system, combined with the game randomly freezing my whole computer, is driving me insane. SOMEONE, ANYONE, GIVE ME ADVICE FOR DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE.

Also, here's an interesting fun fact: This game was made by the same dev who made a smaller game I played a couple months ago called "Pigsaw" (WHICH ALSO KEPT RANDOMLY FREEZING MY PC. WHAT A COINCIDENCE AM I RIGHT)

Hello Q.A. here,

Sorry your're having some trouble with the game. Could you send me your computer specs: Motherboard, graphics card, Ram, and operating system? That should help figure things out. Also is there a particular place where the game is freezing?

Sounds like a overheating issue. If your computer completly freezes.

I have an Intel i5-9400 CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, 931 GB of ram, I'm running this on an Alienware Aurora R9, and I also have Razer Cortex installed to help game performance (I tried to look up the motherboard in System Information, but the general summary wouldn't even load, said some files might be missing)

"Might be missing" you say? Are you running anti-virus? If so that may be the problem. You may need to flag the collection as safe and re-install.

How do I do that?

Well, it depends on the type of anti-virus you are running. You should be able to find the steps if you google them for your particular software. You could also disable your anti-virus when you re-install the game. I recommend you do the same with Pigsaw as well. It's definitely worth it!

Note, you don't have to beat each game to get the codes, just open them, so hopefully you won't loose too much time re-installing.

If it does work, please don't forget to mark this thread as solved. It'll help other folk who might encounter the same thing.

Welp, it was worth a shot :/

Also, I'm not sure if this means anything or not, but when I froze again, my headphones made a kind of "pop" sound

I'm running Microsoft Defender, and I tried to flag the game by following the steps on this link: https://appuals.com/how-to-add-steam-as-an-exception-to-your-antivirus-or-firewall-software/

Though now that I think about it, I don't remember if I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I think I booted my pc in "safe mode", flagged Dread X 4, then restarted the pc in normal mode

OH I ALMOST FORGOT. I also have GeForce installed. Maybe that might mean something?

Uninstalling/re-installing the game is most likely the factor. Odds are your anti-virus prevented parts of the game from installing, so flagging after probably won't be enough to fix.

Okay, I reinstalled the game, and played another game that was crashing, House of Unrest, to test things. It worked pretty well actually, almost got to the ending before the game crashed (it didn't freeze my pc this time, so yay progress?)

aaaand the fruit still freezes. why does this game hate me.
Jinx 19 Jul, 2021 @ 2:55pm
Just to add -- yesterday The Fruit locked up my PC after I had died during the flying skulls bit and it tried to reload me at the last checkpoint. Weird.
The other games in this collection haven't been a problem.

Audio was looping a repeated speaker sound (I don't know which onomatopoeia to describe it, it sounded like a typical speaker glitch repeating sound) and entire PC was locked up, all the monitors were still on (so it didn't all go black), mouse cursor not moving, keyboard not reacting.
Had to hard shutdown my PC and turn it back on.

PC specs in my Steam profile, but briefly:
Intel i9CPU
ASRock Z390 motherboard
32Gb RAM
1080 Ti GPU
SSD
Latest Windows and NVIDIA drivers. No Geforce program.
Also using Windows Defender as my AV, hasn't even been a problem that I know of.

The last program to do this to me was Aesprite some months ago, never solved it, and haven't used it since.
