I can’t find anyone to play with. There are no lobbies!
Smithworks is region based. Lobbies will only pop up if they are within your country or withing a certain ping distance. The is intended to play with nearby friends, so public lobbies where not meant to be the intended experience of Smithworks.

How can I play with my friends?
Set the lobby to private and invite them through steam OR join the lobby this way! Shift+Tab for shortcut while in lobby.

The game is laggy!
The game utilizes P2P networking. This comes with benefits and downsides. The main being that if ping difference between players is high, this will likely make the game unstable for those players. The upside is that servers will always be running for the foreseeable future as it is completely free to run these servers.

The game is buggy and crashing!
Following the reasons above, desync can cause crashes/bugs. If this occurs, performing a full restart of the game will solve most issues. Otherwise, consistent bugs may indicate a problem with the hardware or WIFI. Contact us on discord if you have a issue like that.

Can you guys add this ___ as a feature?
We appreciate each suggestion that comes our way but there are suggestions too far out of scope for us. We are recently graduated, college students, and many suggestions are too complicated for us to implement. While some suggestions are doable, it’s best to play the game as intended.

Can we do different keybinds?
Besides the time commitment and technical debt of our code base, we think it’s the best configuration to play the game as intended and at a high level.
