Could've been a really good racing game, but there's just too much repetition in grinding its 250 singleplayer events. Honestly seems like a higher-budget mobile game created to capitalize on the Nintendo Switch's lack of racing games at the time.

The cars themselves are fun to drive though, and most cars handle quite differently from one another. Mastering drifting at high speeds also feels great. But unfortunately most events are way, way too easy, and you'll be ahead of the pack the entire time without breaking a sweat. And after 6+ hours of this, the game starts to really overstay its welcome, as it's just a never-ending gauntlet of random map icons.

Another negative mark is that the environments look terrible. There's no hand-made touch to anything, and it's clear the levels were designed via dragging a "landscape brush" around, while having randomized terrain features and scenery generated around the roads they've placed. Everything just blends in.

The only real fun I've had was in the special GP events, where you get to do Qualifying rounds, and then race on a hand-made track. It's great because once you choose to commit to your Qualification position, you are commited to the results of the next race since you cannot restart it - and are only afforded 3 rewinds per lap. This is a great balance of difficulty, and I like that it forces you to really be on your game, and to take things like pitstopping and Tire Management seriously, since every second counts.

Overall, it's a solid effort by the devs, but it skirts the lines of being a "mobile game" a little bit too much, while having a progression system that feels endless and unrewarding.

Coming back to this game having originally played it on the switch years ago. i was filled with nostalgia. It felt great to come back to the electro music i have missed after so long. Anyway. games great. basically cheap Forza. good bang for the buck. I've seen a lot of reviews complaining about controller support, however these issues were easily solved for me by simply enabling steam input (steam > big picture mode > gear.club unlimited 2 > controller > enable steam input).
