For a Game/Art/OST made entirely by a single person its absolutely impressive, really well done, the momentum in this game took me a while to get used to it other than that the combat is quick and flashy and parrying and dodging is really satisfying, the game honestly felt more different than sonic, how can i describe it? its basically fast paced megaman with hack and slash mechanics with your fists, the bosses are creative and i really like the art of the game, overall the game took me 5 hours to beat and it was worth it. the soundtrack on the other hand is good but fits for being background music, with an exception of a couple bangers that i had to save in my playlist.

The gameplay mechanics feel so smooth. Quick reaction gameplay feels amazing! Boss fights are the best part and each one is so unique, you've inspired me to make my own and can't wait to see this game get its flowers!!

Its peak

I've been waiting for this game to release ever since I play the Vs. Neon FNF mod. After spending over a few weeks, I have fully 100% the game. I love just about everything about it. Mainly the combat system and also keeping momentum, which adds even more power. The bosses are really fun and memorable. The levels and even the music itself are really well done. I even find ways to break the level entirely even after the patch was released. Before the patch, I definitely encountered some glitches. After the patch, I did not see those glitches anymore, which I'm glad about. My only criticism that I have is with the story. I felt like it could have improve to further explore the history and to further build characters since there wasn't too much to go of by such as Axis. Other than that, fantastic game! A really good test of skill as well as being challenging. ???/10! (If you know, you know)

Overrated AF but still a pretty cool game

Advent Neon is a fast paced, action-platformer that combines elements of 'Sonic the Hedgehog', 'Mega-Man', and 'Dragon Ball', (Also Steven Universe too!) to create a yummy blend of originality, creativity, and imagination that is both something new and inspired, but also familiar and fun. Advent Neon feels like a game Sonic Team wanted to create if they weren’t so afraid of being compared to Dragon Ball. Advent Neon knows this, and embraces all of the things that it’s inspired by with no shame, and delivers something that feels full of pride, ambition, and enjoyment.

In Advent Neon, you play as a Neon - a young, hip, and cool green dude who is basically a robot with a living soul. Since the death of his creator, Neon travels the world of Neopolis in order to bring his creator back to life. There are over 5 hub worlds, each containing ‘Acts.’ In which take you to a new part of that biome, progress the story, and give you a rank at the end of your run.. Does this sounding familiar at all? Good, because it’s a familiar formula that fits perfectly for how this game works. While it is a 2D action-platformer, the game’s heart and soul is centered around its combat, which is both satisfying and addicting, might I add. It doesn’t take very long to get used too, especially if you’re a Sonic novice. The combat can be overly fast-paced sometimes, but also very fun and rewarding once you get a handle on its mechanics. Neon has your typical moveset of run, dash, light attacks, and heavy attacks that use up your gauge, as does the dash. The dash acts like a parry, and activating it at the right time will cause everything to freeze up and stop in time, except for you, the player, of course, who can then deal double damage by attacking the enemy.

As you run through each level, you’ll collect these green little corn chips, known as Nodes.. No seriously, they call them corn chips in the game! They have various functions, one of them being currency. Ya know, the thing you use to buy stuff and is getting harder to obtain in the US economy. Neon has a wide variety of upgrades, special abilities that can be toggled on and off, and various color schemes you can buy to really customize Neon and make him your own.. Something I think adds a lot of personality and interjection into the game. The other use of the Green Corn Chips is that they fill up a percentage meter at the top of the screen. Reaching 100% unleashes Neon’s.. We’ll call it, ‘Super Form’ for now. However, unlike in Sonic, in Neon’s Super Form you’re not invincible. In fact taking damage one or two times reverts you back to your base form.. But don’t let that deter you away though, as this is a great mechanic that incentivizes non-stop action, but also caution in your stage runs.

While you probably can button mash your way through a decent portion of the game, learning the mechanics, enemies, bosses, and levels will make each play-through all the more satisfying. In fact, that’s how Advent Neon is meant to be played – By replaying levels and bosses over to either beat them, or master them. It’s one of those games that you play each level over in order to learn its individual tricks and most efficient routes. It falls more into an arcade-style type of game, and it nails this perfectly. Also, if you die.. When you die.. Trust me, it’s inevitable.. The game is extremely forgiving and I found most check points in stages were fairly placed, which made going through the level again all the more fun, as I knew exactly where to jump and when to strike. It became muscle memory after a while, and I found myself entering a flow-like state while playing the game at times. It’s a perfect game to either sit down and play straight through, or to pick up for a few minutes to pass the time or get those dopamine levels up in your ever dying brain. Each level, sub boss, and level boss each have their own unique challenges and gimmicks that I promise won’t get boring on your first or second play-through.

The only thing I wanted more of, or see fleshed out better was the story and plot. It's a tad underwhelming (Aside from this incredible cut-scene near the end of the game).

Aside from that, this game is well worth your time, money, and support! If you're a fan of the 'Freedom Planet' franchise, and/or the 'Spark The Electric Jester' series, you'll feel right at home with 'Advent Neon'. At this point, we're only missing some super-ultra-radical merch for the Advent Neon series (plushies, stickers, clothing, etc)! Hope to see more from CryoGX, and a sequel to this game!

It’s just so peak

Tight control, Great animation, Cracking sound design, Banger soundtrack. this game has everything you'd want in an action platformer. Bosses are (Mostly) solid and feel really fun when you get into the flow of their attacks.
Main game: 10/10

However, I'd recommend you avoid the Stage Rush/Boss Rush with a 10 foot pole. They've done an amazing job at highlighting all the tiny cracks that make speedrunning this game (W/O Upgrades or Perks) a frustrating nightmare.
