The first Assassin's Creed is an old nostalgia bomb that introduced a lot of the mechanics we're very used to by now in every open world game. If it's your first attempt at any Asssassin's Creed game I might actually advice you to skip it.
Two reasons; One, while it truly stood out among previous games of its era it can feel clunky and lackluster for those that are more used to newer generations of games. The story also doesn't stand enough out to make up for this.
Two, there're several bugs that makes the game unplayable before you've done several fixes. I'll explain how to fix these.
But if you're someone that enjoys and appreciate older games for what they brought, and how they inspired future generations of games. And you prefer to play the game rather than watch a youtube video about it, for those looking for a playthrough of the entire series. Then I can for sure recommend it.

Fixes:
First: Download DXSETUP. It's supposed to happen automatic but since they shut down the servers it for some reason either skips doing so or just goes into a never ending download that you just have to cancel in the end. To do the download without issues go into files
"this PC">Program Files(x86)>Steam>steamapps>common>Assassin's Creed>DirectX
There you should find DXSETUP if you scroll a bit, double click and follow steps given to download.

Second: This is for those that want to play with a controller, which I assume is most. First you have to connect the controller to steam, search steam controller setup on Google. Afterwards it should be a box on the right side of steam mentioning configurations and that it's connected. However this is not enough, you now have to go into the game. Make a save file and then change the settings of said save file where you have to switch from keyboard/controller to just controller as input to make it work at all. I'll also advice you to change the button layouts if it's not put up correctly, at least I had that issue. Looking around where on certain buttons instead of joystick, attack, freerun and grapple was flipped.etc

Third: Since the servers got shut down there's been a huge issue with the game just freezing up every 20-30 seconds for 5-10 seconds. Kinda destroys the enjoyment of the game. It's however easily fixed in a kinda annoying way. You simply have to be disconnected from the internet while playing. The reason is as long as you are connected to the internet, the game will continue to try and connect to its servers. As earlier mentioned, theses servers doesn't exist anymore, which leads to the game continuously freezing whenever it tries to ping for something that doesn't exist.

Всім привіт! Ось і підійшли до закінчення 9 годин страждань геймплею Assassin's Creed. Чому вказано 0.6 - до кінця не розумію, гадаю, через те, що грав оффлайн, але на це була причина, читайте нижче.

Взагалі із серією "Assassin's Creed" я познайомився у 2011 році, коли в мене з'явився комп'ютер. На той момент вже вийшла четверта гра серії, але оскільки в мене була ПС2, то перша частина про вбивцю не була випущена на цю консоль, але я зіграв інші проекти Ubisoft - це трилогія Принца Персії. Чому я на це акцентую? Assassin's Creed надихнулась принцом (паркур, механіка бою).

І ось він 2011 рік - час запустити Assassin's Creed! Тоді це були неймовірні враження, захоплення грою тощо.

І ось знижки в Steam, подумавши, що варто знову зіграти в цю серію ігор, та як я був палким фанатом цих ігор, ще раз акцентую - був, чому? Дізнаєтеся з часом, слідкуйте за рецензіями :)

Отож - Assassin's Creed, починаємо:

1. Сюжет
В 2011 році я не поринав в деталі сюжету, а просто грав так, як диктує гра, щось типу: "піти туди", "зробити те". Сьогодні в дорослому віці (24 роки - дорослий вік?), скажу так - скучно, банально, в плані цікавості теж так собі. Тільки фінальний твіст, мене вразив ще тоді, у 2011 році, але зараз це виглядає трішки кумедно, але і на тому дякую.

2. Геймплей
Ну, що тут сказати, той "паркур" - це прям був якийсь феномен для мене у 2011. Я просто інколи полюбляв бігати по карті, "паркурити", дражнити вартових. Для гри 2007 року жодних питань, але мені у 2024 році було тяжко, і мова йде не тільки про атлетику, а й про бойову систему, але чіплятись до цього не буду. Доступний відкритий світ, різні локації (між якими можна подорожувати верхи на коні), квести, а ось щодо них - скучно, "душно". Щоб відкрити головне завдання, гравець повинен пройти 3 з 6-ти додаткових місій, і так до кінця гри, але проблема в тому, що вони тупо однотипні, і це мене засмутило, але у 2024 році.

Та й таке, можливо, щось забув, в плані геймплею, я пройшов виключно сюжет, квести не виконував, та як це "духота", ну для мене. Про графіку тяжко щось сказати, думаю, для 2007 було більш ніж окей.

Згадав, гра часто "фрізить", навіть на потужних комп'ютерах. Причина в тому, що гра шукає сервера Ubisoft, а ті відключили їх, тупо "забили" на гру. Вихід з ситуації - витягнути кабель інтернету з комп'ютера. Так, ви будете оффлайн, але хоча б нормально пограєте.

Я радий, що знову зіграв у перший Assassin's Creed, не дивлячись на геймплейні важкості, скучний та однотипний сюжет, але як не як, я вдячний цій грі, що вона подарувала мені шалені емоції у дитинстві та зробила мене своїм вірним шанувальником серії протягом багатьох років, але не до сьогодення, "дякую" Ubisoft.
