Infinite loop during the tutorial
Hi guys,

I bought the whole AC saga and I wanted to start from the beginning.

The problem is that I can't play because I encounter an infinite loop during the tutorial (the mission where I have to pull a guy using mouse 1). It repeats indefinitely...

Can someone help me with this problem ? Do you encountered this glitch already ? Should I refund the game ?

Yes I've started this through the DX 9 technique. After rebooting 5 times, and watching the start, I AM FRIKKEN OVER THIS GAME NOW...

I fixed my problem by rebooting the game and replaying the tutorial.

It was exactly at the "grab and throw' part.

You just need to restart.

It's not a glitch. You can exit the tutorial at any time or enter the practice area any time when you are in Masyaf. No need to refund the game. The game is fine. Just press ESC and exit tutorial. Then head towards the gate of the castle.

I tried to spam ESC and I can't skip the tutorial, I had to watch it again...

By the way, I have a problem with the Fullscreen mode right now. The game is windowed and sometimes I'm out of the game's screen with the cursor.

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Hello Razor, thanks for getting in touch and letting us know you have encountered this issue too.

As well as rebooting the game, could you please do a verify game files check within Steam, to check if this issue is possibly caused by a corrupted game file. Here are some instructions how on how to do this > https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB

Please let us know how you get on after trying both steps?

The problem was in 144Hz refresh rate, I forced it to 60 and turned on V-Sync via NVIDIA Control Panel, and all done :)

Heya Razor, good to hear forcing 60FPS solved this for you! With many of our older games, they were never designed to run faster than that, so it messed up the timing for a lot of events :( Definitely a worthwhile troubleshooting step if things seem to be bugging out.

I hope you enjoy the first Assassin's Creed!

Well, here it is now 2024 and I am running into this issue as well. I've tried all of the above suggestions but the game is still unplayable. Frame rate is 60, V-Sync enabled, all files validated as correctly installed.

Same. I've tried it all. I can't listen to the guy explain memories again. Why couldn't the opening be skippable?

So I finally got it to work. Playing without the internet connected worked for me. Just be prepared to repeat missions because of the lack of ability to save. For example, right after I beat the traitor up, the game crashed. When I restarted it, I was back to the beginning of the memory with the guy that first told me there was a traitor. Was so excited to play this game, now its just disappointment after disappointment.
