Don't waste time grinding levels and building gear, there are no bosses until after the exam, and simply tossing bombs is enough for regular encounters (although you should just ignore most enemies).

I recommend rushing all 5 letters (it's gonna take you about 15 hours at most), then you should still have like 100 days left, and at that point you get access to high level areas with great materials and easy EXP farming, so that you can level up a bit and make some good gear and items for the (optional) boss fight at the exam. And once you're done with the exam the game really opens up and you can do whatever.

went from ryza 1 and2 to sophie 1 and 2 to firis.

am pretty sure sophie 1 didnt have a timer though other would not have managed over 100hrs of just story

is there another more story after getting the license? like main story not just those random npcs that keep entering the tent.

how many days estimate required would you need after getting the third recromendation and entering the new continent to the test place? from comments above i assume u need 5 not 3 recromendations?

Atelier games are primarily character driven, so just like in Sophie there isn't much of a plot here. You get about two dozen character arcs in the second half of the game, half of them culminating in boss fights and endings. Completing enough of these will unlock a "true" ending.

Note that if you want to keep playing the Mysterious games, keep in mind that Lydie & Suelle references ALL of the character arcs and endings from Firis, they're all canon. Here's a helpful guide, take a look once you're done with the exam:

You only need 3 out of 5, but the last 2 are pretty easy to grab so you might as well, you miss out on some recipes if you don't grab them. Building the ship to cross the lake is really the only time consuming part.

Most of the older Atelier games (virtually all of them before Sophie) have time limits, similar to Persona, and thus the gameplay loop is a bit different from Mysterious and Ryza. Mainly you're not supposed to grind as the games don't expect you to, they're more about completing objectives in a set period of time, instead of just getting stronger for the sake of it.

Firis is a bit of an exception, being the only post-Sophie game with a time limit, although it's extremely lenient. I'm actually surprised you managed to fail it.

it probably didnt help that i made it a my personal business to defeat every area boss on the highest difficulty. most of which still can 2-3shot me with s grade gear.
also played the 90% of the game with just lia till i got to the white forest and met the girl thats rly into dolls. the game never bothered to say you've got to go to inns and pubs to recruit more members - never liked any of them anyways so continued with the 3 girl party.

whats the difference between the DX and default version? have found out that the normal version has a hack that stops the time from counting down by fling trainer noithing for the dx though. doesnt seem to work witth the DX either.

anyone know how to do this is the DX? can pay for commision

have figured out how to reset timer at mid night without losing a day :steamhappy:
Survival Gamer 5 Jul, 2023 @ 1:22pm
I just started this game and it seems to be pretty much rubbish with the timer. Part of the issue is the map is almost worthless. Having a timer and nothing is labeled to tell which what is where, such as the pasture for the first license tasks. I like open world and dont tell me to go here and there, just not with a damn timer. Really awful mechanic. It takes what I hoped would be a relaxing game and makes it annoying and stressful.

u can ignore the timer and explore you'll be fine. only in extreme cases like playing in very hard mode would u be affected by it tbh.

u can also reset the timer using cheat engine making it meh anyways

Trouble is, some people (me included) find timers stressfull. Even if there is more than enough time. I got my 3rd recommendation with 157 days left, but the timer reduces my fun.

Two words about 'cheat engine':
- the orriginal version tries to install addware, please read exactly what you install.
- if you use cheat engine, the current day is encoded like (month -1) * 30 + day -1
