How do I equip the Puni Drone?

I just made the puni drone, and it says I'm supposed to be able to equip it under battle items. But none of my characters seem to be able to equip it. Am I doing something wrong?

It acts as a new version of the spare backpack. This means that if you have a spare backpack equipped, you can't equip the puni drone in any other slot. All you can do is replace the spare backpack you have equipped.
