Ironman is garbage
Ironman wouldn't be so bad in this game if it wasn't still for all the lack of optimization and graphical bugs. My ironman was cut short because I fell through a solid piece of ground. I figured, hmm maybe I just fell and didn't realize where I was stepping.
So, I logged on another character and went to the same spot, fell right through the ground again. This type of garbage is ridiculous and the devs should know better than to implement this without a fail safe system (other than me copying my save which I hate to do but is necessary in this game apparently).

LOL, that reminds me on my first run with my friend, when he got downed and i got him back up the whole game textures just kept bugging in and out and making us fall too our deaths over and over. had to restart the game to fix it.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying the game itself is bad. I didn't play the original and from what I understand the game has changed for the better entirely. Additionally, I have had a lot of fun playing, and the aesthetic is great. But things like iron-man are difficult to implement in non-strategy or shooter games like say Resident Evil.
There are so many areas where it looks like a pathway where there's invisible barriers in this game, one that comes to mind is the top floor of the Bramis Castle area where you switch to umbral near the rotating staircase.
There is a path outward to pull floating platforms near the axiom walkway and you just can't jump or walk past it (easily anyway) without overshooting it and falling to your death. So instead you walk out to the right and inch slowly to the path.
This makes things un-intuitive to the point that if you don't know every little nook, its possibly a game ending experience in iron-man for something that isn't a skill reason.
I love iron-man because it gives a whole new experience to games like x-com, wh40k grey knights, etc. etc., and while RNG is a part of games like that, once you understand the game mechanics and skills, you are sufficiently able to limit that from being a factor to the point where it just ends the game entirely. That isn't the case here.

Ironman is a mode for people that:
1 - knows the game inside out (to make it faster and just the necessary)
2 - are good enough at the game
3 - have the patience to take it slower (with more care) and not bother if they die

Sure, you can try Ironman mode without knowing the game inside out and all and yes, getting killed by a glitch (falling through the floor) is not good and I can understand the frustration even tho I had 1 single crash after some 160~170 hours gameplay (I was doing crucibles form Skyrest Vestige, I had done Hollow Crow crucible and was going to do the next, game crashed on the cutscene and did not even count that I had done the Hollow Crow bossfight of the crucible and threw me at the Hollow Crow arena instead of at Skyrest ( LOL ) so the game got full bonkers and did not even knew where I was anymore after the crash (tho I think I am lucky this was the only mess that happened to the save of my lvl 150 character).

But yes, try to play safe when playing Ironman mode and if you dont know the routes and places properly, dont have a proper path or dont know the whole game yet, I would suggest trying Ironman modifier later.
