Why The Hate
I don't own the game on steam but I played it with my freind and i remember it quite fondly it does feel somewhat clunky but all the batman games were clunky if you didn't get into it
so why the hate for this game

People are jaded. I find this game was exactly what I wanted. Running around with my wife beating up cops, criminals and bosses. I had way more fun with this than Arkham Knight which was a glorified tank simulator.

Folks were mad cause this wasn't another Rocksteady game and we're not allowed to try different things. This game is a blast in co-op.

Miss me with graphic quality, it was fun and that's all I care about.

I'll just leave this here without comment. If you can't figure it out yourself, then:

- I'm sorry
- it's already reached the point where it doesn't matter, and you can enjoy the game without any worries

it's the best gay / woman beating simulator so far.
It has next gen PS3 graphics, gameplay is downgradd to basic mobile phone grinding, love it. :sunglassesDoge:

If it wasn't under the "Batman Arkham" umbrella, and an entirly different franchise, it would have been maybe a bit more well received. However there are core gameplay elements that are just a pure downgrade at best, and buggy at the worst.
Transversal or "heroic" movement is just not. Batgirl has the closest to the glide from previous games, but she drops FAST and her speed is slow. In general the whole get from point A to point B is more a hassle as it is fun. Sure, down the line there is fast travel but Arkham Knight or Spiderman set standards how fast you can travel through a city. But thats just my feeling.
The crafting is just a remnant of them having a pay to play/win model like in suicide squad in earlier iterations of the game. You could remove it entirely and nothing would change apart from the useless "contact" jobs that are repeatable fetch quests.
Enemies are dmg sponges and their range attacks are either not telegraphed or just barely. Couple that with a camera that do what it wants in fights, and a bit of clunky movement you feel that the combat is way less fluid.
Dont get me wrong, if you just bash everything around you, its probably ok, but stealth is most of the time no option.

Best example is one particular fight below a theater (I dont want to spoiler). You have to defeat waves of enemies with two tanky mini bosses while also need to interact with the certain spots in the room during the fight (every few seconds you have a time window of 20-ish seconds) and ofcourse its not a click but hold the button to interact, while you need to hope that the guys dont throw s*it at you and interrupt you. If you fail to do the interactions in the time limit you die and its start from the beginning (but you cooldowns dont reset, so if you used them during the first time you have to wait and probably cannot use them during the second try).

And ofcourse the release was a buggy mess. Together with the sum of small annoyances (and with big brother Arkham Knight just in all aspects better), people were pissed.

I hope that shined light on your question.

PS: Also the fact that they put a fortnite glider as transport for Nightwing just to catch young kids (hypothesis) shows that the whole bling bling neon light/materials drop was created to cash in on microtransactions.

Idk what game your playing bro but at least on ps5 it looks pretty good but im not much of a graphic's fanatic so i wouldn't have a massive say
Back when this was being developed, people had the idea that this was going to basically be a multiplayer Arkham game. Myself and others tried to point out that it won't be, and how it's not possible to even achieve something like that. You can't have a deep story and narrative in a multiplayer environment. It just doesn't work. People kept arguing against it, and sticking to the idea that this was going to be the game that they wished Arkham would be. That was the major drawback that this game had when it released. Even to this day you can still see people mentioning it. People are still hating this game because it's not Arkham.

Apparently this game had a lot of issues when it released. It all seems to be patched out and perfectly playable now. Of course that doesn't stop people from still clinging onto those problems, and using them as excuses as to why the game is bad.

The game isn't perfect. It has it's flaws. The controls can definitely be very clunky or stiff sometimes. The gameplay is kind of repetitive. It definitely feels like a multiplayer game, which is why it's lacking in depth in certain departments. But I still think it's a great game.

I'm playing it on a 5120x1440 monitor, HDR, maxed out graphics, and it's a very pretty game. It's fun being able to stop random crimes. Makes you feel like an actual superhero. I love the character designs. The combat and animations are all very stylish and just adds to the fun of being a badass. It has just enough of an Arkham feel to it to feel familiar, but also be it's own thing. If you know what you're getting when you play this game, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The problems only come when you have expectations of it being something else.

Thats what i get because at least to me it never seamed like multiplayer batman and the fact that it didn't force its self to be the same is one of the reasons that i enjoy it

Its a sad when people cant tell the difference between Art Style and actual graphic.
And to think some of these have youtube channel is even more sad.
This just show that you dont need to have any knowledge to be successful youtuber.

they did many things very well... I can't speak for the Suicide Squad game because I haven't played it, but this game's map is a cut above even 'Arkham Knight's... the obvious is there's so much more colour to it, which isn't a knock on the others because the darker more greyscale heavy look is certainly appropriate to the mood...

the big difference with WB Montreal's renditions of Gotham is that they achieved a Vertical Scale that rocksteady struggled with, in my opinion... especially 'Arkham Knight's where it felt as though the environment was being stretched towards you as you dove off of Wayne Tower to achieve the effect...

in WB Montreal's 'Origins' they chose to load the upper half of Royal Tower with a brief cutscene to demonstrate the Vertical Scale effectively, not exaggerate the environment... rocksteady wanted a seamless game (zero cutscenes not including DLC) and I believe traded off what WB Montreal didn't, at the expense of the environment...:-)

Playing this game as someone who has a ND special interest in the dynamics of the batfamily and general dc, I had the time of my life. I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ delighted at every turn, despite being spoiled for the ending by TikTok. And yeah, the hate bombing was absolutely because everyone was expecting it to be the next Arkham, when it isn’t and was never going to be. I do have some issues, the main ones being the lack of sensitivity in the movement controls (input lag and getting caught on corners etc) & the absolute mess that was the clayface boss battle (ridiculous hit boxes and damage sponging), and to be fair, I can totally see how the replay value would go down for someone not seriously into Batman, but every time I see a bad review on Gotham knights and see the word ‘Arkham’ I roll my eyes.

I got this game as a gift, but honestly I would happily pay for it :))

not being able to refuse to be farmed for data is a pretty good reason to not like it

also the patch notes said no more EOS but start the game and it runs EOS anyway
thats another reason

also by default the MIC IS OPEN! that is so bad it is not even funny

Double news flash: I did not say sequel but umbrella because even the name use obvious ties to Arkham Knight to lure in Batman fans. And yes, its still the same franchise as it plays in the Batman universe. Maybe look up the word franchise before you try to look sassy/smart when you in fact only show that you did not get the point :)

It's not under the same umbrella, you mention the name without recognizing the fact that there isn't even the word "Batman" in the name, but somehow having the word Knights makes it a game that should play exactly like the Arkham games played, hilarious. And maybe you should look what a franchise is, because this is not a Batman game, is a game that has Batman, and only in cutscenes. But by your logic, Justice League is part of the Batman franchise, if DC releases a JL game, it must play exactly like Arkham, because it's a game of the Batman franchise obviously, right?
