when I start the game all I see is a black screen please help

Every time I click the play button it becomes green and then turn blue again a few seconds later. If anyone knows what's wrong please help because I want to play this game so much but I can't

How large are the maps? As in real world units, is a 2048 map 2048km? Mi? Yd? M?

Just hat the title says. I was ables to do it the first few times I tried this simulation engine, it's quite anoying tbh. Any of you people had the same issue or knows a way to work around this better than just using the "years" option?
