Legendary Hoplite starts off quite wonderful... A great opening, a unique artstyle, a nice voice-acting, an ancient greek setting and great tower-defense gameplay, but once I finished it, I realized; the game's sadly not finished.

You play as Dio, protector of Ithaca, who, being the commander of the city gates, yields the responsibility of protecting it with his own life. A lot of legendary creatures will try to get through, seeking a legendary treasure hidden within the city walls, it's Dio's task to not let that happen.

The tower Defense part of this game is actually brilliant, you get some lanes that you can defend with towers, plus your hero also doing damage from afar. The city gates have got HPs, once they reach zero the game is over. You get a bunch of things you can pull out to protect the gates; Phalanxes that have great defense and will always serve as your front liners, archers as backliners and catapults, among others. My favourite was the Musician, who after you upgrade it, will make your troops basically unkillable. His song of "Valor" is just so underrated.

Add to that the unique art style and magical like settings where literally every creature from Greek Lore makes an appearance (yes, even Tritons, imagine that), and it almost makes a perfect game... Almost! I kept getting these achievements that say "you've defeated the boss for the FIRST TIME", and I kept telling myself: "well, maybe there's a last Act where all those bosses will make an appearance again, right? and I get another achievement for defeating them again and some cinematics and stuff!" Well, nope, apart from the opening there is no other cinematic, and when defeating the Hydra Last boss (for the first time of course), the game just ends... So, after upgrading that many units, and besting the most difficult challenge of the game... there is not even a closure! The librarian comes in, says a few words and you're back on the world map... It was just so anti-climatic.

Legendary Hoplite is like a 7/10, it could've been an iconic game for the tower defense fandom, but here we are... The game wouldn't even come close to "Orcs Must Die", for example! Not even close.
