Rise was my first Monster Hunter game, so I can't speak to the new features from previous games. But I can confidently say that you'll enjoy this game immensely if you like flashy combat, spectacular OSTs, and, my personal favourite, remarkably robust character and outfit customization systems. This game is insanely fun, endlessly replayable, and beyond worth any price they could charge for it.

Who ever idea it was at capcom to make rampage quest needs to get fired love the game but nah gotta give it thumbs down just for the brain rot it caused me to do those quest.

Just about all weapons feel better than in World but lacks the tracking and environments that make world unique. Monster variety feels smaller in comparison as well but the weapons and movement feel so good that I don't care.

Much more fast-paced and action packed than the focus on realism that surrounded World's gameplay. Weapons don't feel as heavy, there are more attack strings added to each weapon, and there are a ton of added movement options. You don't track the monsters. Bosses are very easy until you get to the higher rank missions. It does just kind of make every boss feel like "smack them -> chase them -> smack them -> chase them" repeat til dead. There's a lot more map verticality and options for map traversal such as a mount or using the wirebug. Rise is definitely a bit more arcade-like, which I know turned a lot of people away, but it does it well.

Most of my time played was spent in multiplayer so that brings me to one of Rise's main selling points. CAPCOM made significant improvements to the co-op implementation over World. This makes co-op immediately accessible instead of having to jump through a ton of hoops before being able to bring friends along, as was the case with World. Village Quests are your traditional single-player MH story quests, and Hub Quests are purely multiplayer quests. You have the choice of doing either, and both are independent of each other. All your friends join your lobby, the host picks a Hub Quest, and off you go. If anyone accepts the same quest prior to starting, they will also get completion progress.

Worth mentioning I have read that the base game is pretty shallow, and needs Sunbreak to feel complete. I can't say for sure because I never made it to Sunbreak, but I can agree that while the base game is incredibly fun it is pretty shallow in terms of content.

An amazing evolution of the Monster Hunter formula. The flashy high octane take on traditional Monster Hunter combat is incredibly fun and satisfying, and the sunbreak expansion elevates it to the next level!

Do not expect this to be the same as Monster Hunter World. I find the best way to enjoy the game if you are coming from world is to pick up and use a different weapon as I found it helps with the transition and creates a disconnect between the two games allowing for less "Oh wait wrong game" moments when using weapon moves.
