How to use a custom component
I'm playing campaign mode, and I just got access to the component factory. What a relief! Now I can finally get things like a 4-mux and so on that I've been dying for lack of.

However, the help seems a bit lacking on how to actually create an use components. As best I can tell, I make a component by clicking "Switch Schematic" and making a component.

But how do I actually then use that component in another problem? It doesn't appear in the list along with 1-Bit, 8-Bit on other problems, only inside the component factory.

Surely I don't have to re-create the component on every level?

Custom components show up in a separate list below the 1-bit and 8-bit component lists, top right of your screen.

Well.. they're not. For me, in campaign levels. Only in the component factor (and component factory level). I can see them there, so I know what you're talking about.

Maybe I'm somehow making a "schematic" rather than a component?

If someone can explain it like I'm dumb I'd very much appreciate.

Lab, Component factory and Sandbox are 3 separate tabs. Each tab has its own "schematic list" even if the icon stays the same. First enter in the component factory tab (wrench icon), then go to "switch schematics", and create a new schematic. If you start from the wrong tab, you are just making a new project instead of a custom component. Pretty easy mistake due to the interface, made it myself a couple of time, and went mad because it wasn't showing in the right list.
Also, there's a chance that some levels, are meant to be solved with standard components only, and you don't have access to the custom tab (not sure about that, played the game a long time ago)

I know what ur problem is, its a goofy UI but i initially had the same issue.
The same button does 2 different things depending on where you are in the game.

If you already have your main cpu open, click on the component factory button first, then from component factory you make a new schematic.

If you make new schematic from the schematic page, it makes like a whole new schematic, and not a component
