It works just fine to me...

It is supposed to let you conjur up to 6 items (and in fact does so for me). Have you tried verifying game files to see if something in your files broke? (close game, right click in Steam > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of files)

I have done those verify steps, it seemed to be happy with my files, as it did not download anything new.

May have to mention that it was a multiplayer game with a friend. The friend is the host. Does it cause any trouble if the host does not have that skill while the client does?

I think that in multiplayer game, you have the same skills that host have.. So he probably has not skillpoins invested in this, which would explain why you have 3 platforms only (thats maximum obtained as game progress, without skillpoints invested]

Well you can reskill your characters out of those skill points the host has. So yes my amadeus does have the skill. But not the hosts. They dislike playing amadeus.
