Pontius the knight, Zoya the rogue/thief, Amadeus the wizard are classic D&D/fantasy characters.
I like that the skills changed between episodes and don't think it need new character to indice changes in the game.
Its like saying: "I'm bored of playing this red dressed up plumber, who jumps on enemies to kill them and want to play as an axe-swinging muscular dude who got white and red skin instead."
I could see this as a standalone addon within the Trine universe (which shouldn't be called a Trine game specifically imo) but other than that? Forget it.
I understand where you are coming from, but having played all of the Trine games recently I personally don't have enough of them. It's a good trio which shouldn't be switched. Like Kirk, Spock and McCoy from Star Trek.
I agree with Morlock, 1000 years in the future is right. Maybe in Trine 21?
I don't know. I like that the game is not too heavy and depressing.
But I agree that plot is too childish in pretty much all Trine games.
It's difficult to maintain balance between light tone and interesting story. I wish developers kept the light tone, but made story and world more serious.
As an example, there is anime Spy x Family that happens in an alternative reality during Cold War. While main topics are serious (murder, espionage, counter-intelligence, chemical weapons, terrorism...), the inclusion of one goofy character (5 year old telepath girl) makes everything lighthearted.
While I respect the work narrator in Trine games did, I think that he makes game seem too condescending. Narrator tells story in a way an adult would talk to a child.
Making narrator more witty like that in Dungeons 3 or adding 2nd narrator could help a lot to change the tone.
For example, imagine narrator being a "God" commenting on what heroes do, but one of the Trio characters can secretly hear this "God" and comment on his comments.
