need more Persona spinoff games like this one, a lot of fun!

i put 80 hours on this game in ps4 and it was really good

I'm writing this review after spending 30 straight minutes wailing on a single early game boss enemy while dodging out of range of its two attacks. It was one of those moments where you reflect on whether or not you are even enjoying what you are doing.

This game seems to forget that it's supposed to be fun pretty frequently, saddling you with 30+ minutes of horribly written dialogue and painfully obvious plot twists at a time before giving you a small chance to actually play the game they made. Even when you are playing the game itself, there's very few times where it actually feels well-executed.

Encounters are either too small in number to pose any sort of threat, or have more enemies on the screen than one could ever hope to keep track of, each spamming crowd control spells that will result in your instant death - full health or not.

I've played a lot of Souls games and most of the Dynasty Warriors-style games out there pretty extensively, and while this game does bring some new ideas to the table as far as how it executes those core gameplay mechanics, I think it falls short and ends up being miserable to play 90% of the time.

One thing I will praise the game for is how it handles its tutorials, as most games in this genre do a terrible job at explaining the numerous systems all going on at once. The issue is, though, the game presents you with these tutorials in the middle of a 1-2 hour long yap session of poorly written dialogue when you are first starting up the game, leading to an overwhelming feeling of "jesus christ let me get to the gameplay already" and wanting to skip past said tutorials.

Overall, very disappointed in what this game turned out to be, especially since the actual combat feel is pretty decent. The game has some solid foundation, but it squanders it with questionable design decisions such as its story presentation, its encounter design, and its incredibly cringey dialogue.

Persona 5 Strikers serves as a commendable extension of the original game, furthering the captivating storyline with great success. While Persona 5 Strikers showcases a well-crafted combat system inspired by the musou genre, the execution didn't resonate with me. The reliance on button-mashing and repetitive enemy encounters common in musou games feels at odds with the intricate tactics and social simulation aspects that define Persona titles. Despite this, I found the narrative of Persona 5 Strikers to be engaging and thoroughly enjoyed the game from beginning to end, with the combat being the sole aspect that failed to meet my expectations.

for me i like it the part where i can travel around japan , but i hope i can travel around the world also
