I will go ahead and make it stop on the esc menu and add explanation that it is informational and does not affect gameplay.
I have only received positive feedback about Daemon moving in the map in real time (not in the esc menu) but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this too. It's the one thing I can think of in the game as moving in real time. We can add a Daemon-less mode if it will help you enjoy the game more.

So I pause it and go get coffee... Only to see the timer is still counting down in the esc menu. That's just nine kinds of not acceptable.
The idea of your Mr X guy explicitly breaking the game rules is kind of neat, actually, especially since he causes aggressive amounts of screen glitching even though I'd turned those things off.
